Anyone take any security precautions with their pc's?

I was wanting to get some info on how to safeguard a computer. So that if it was ever seized, that they (big brother) wouldn't be able to find any history. Is there anything that can be done?

Also, what special precautions do you take when ordering/receiving gear?

Thanks

Do This All the Time and Everyday if you come to EF AS at work!

go to http://www.download.com and type encyption in the search field. Then choose what freeware program you want to use. Usually you just drag and drop your docs into the folder and you give that folder a password. REMEMBER: all passwords should not be a single word that is found in a dictionary! Programs can run all these words through a password feild to break it. Put a couple words together and add numbers.

Second:
Right click your Exploer Icon the "e" then click properties and delete temp. internet files and clear history. Next left click My Computer, the click the C: drive (or what ever your hard drive is) open it up and go all the way down to your windows or winnt folder, open it up (show files) and go to Cookies folder. DELETE ALL THE LITTLE WHITE Notepad looking things. DELETE Everything, but the Index (it wont let you delete the index)

My two cents

dude88, I agree with the other posts but I don't like the idea of feeling secure in this false idea of safety because your not a major dealer/importer. Personal supplys have been confiscated also...maybe not as much, but the fact that it DOES happen leads me to be cautious REGARDLESS. Not worth being sloppy because you felt safe...only takes one time to get busted! No need to be overly parnoid, I'm just saying don't be overly abscent minded as the other posts suggested to me. My golden rules are:

1) do not sign for anything (unless REALLY trusted source)
2) clean house when expecting something in the mail
