I am sure many of you bros are in the same boat as me. Unless you go to a Bally's or a Golds that have a plethora of cardio machines then you probably find yourself vying for the stairmaster or something similiar.
At my University gym, you have to sign up for cardio equipment 15 minutes prior to using it and you can only stay on it for 30 minutes.
Anyways, I was thinking about jogging to get cardio in. I can do it whenever I want and it's pretty effective at getting your heart rate up. Any suggestions on jogging. How many miles per day/ days/week, etc...

running was the only cardio i used to do, but i was doing it primarily for baseball. it's extremely effective for burning calories, but i found it burned too much muscle too; although, i was doing sprints/timed 2-4.5 miles, and other hard running like that. in other words, performance based running rather than fat burning running. i figure that if you jogged lightly for anywhere between 20-40 minutes that would be good for cardio. of course, it all depends on how much fat you want to lose. i'm naturally lean anyways, so i barely do any cardio, and when i do, it's on the recumbent bike for only 15 minutes x3 times a week. hope this helped, glad to answer more running questions. later.

i jogged for about 25 minutes 3 times a week during the fall....seemed to lean me out a lil bit while sparing muscle.

i just kept the sessions short and moderate pace

Try Power Walking. Works great !!! Of course you will not be breathing like a race horse but I have to walk my dog everyday so I turn it into a power walk session. I love it.
