I have a shoulder injury, a rehab guy said it was the anterior (rear) tendon. There is sharp pain in the shoulder when I do certain things like bench press, overhead press, bicep curls. If I try to cross my arm over my opposite shoulder it hurts bad, since the ligament is being pulled the opposite way (I think). Relaxed, if I press a finger on the top of the shoulder where the clavicle ends or where the tendon connects, it is sore and hurts. The guy I saw is just a massage therapist, so I want more info from people on the board who know their shit, thanks.

I work as a Physician Assistant for a group of Orthopaedic surgeons and you are describing a classic rotator cuff injury. The best thing to do right now is to rest and ice the shoulder. Immobilize it if you can. You should really try to see an orthopaedic doc as soon as you can as to not injure the shoulder more than you already have. If you have any other questions feel free to email or PM me.

After the injury heals you may have scar tissure that will hurt. The only thing that has really helped me with this is Active Release Technique. Don't wast your time with other treatments and look into it asap.

it could be

what latamier said. I would also suspect the AC joint though. Could be some early arthritis from the years of lifting and constant irritation. Go to a doc, it will only take 5 minutes to rule out a cuff tear. If it is suspected, then of course further studies will be ordered. What you dont want to do is keep impenging the tendon and create a tear if it is only swollen in there, which an injection would probably take care of.
