Any instinctive trainers out there?

I have a set outline that I always follow, and I have been working on being more instinctive the last few months. My personality does not like that, so it hasn't been easy. But it's getting better.:)

That's funny.. I'm just the opposite - I have a hard time staying with a set plan. I'm always changing something.. taking an extra rest day, working out a day early, splitting my workout into 2 or 3 short ones, trying some crazy exercise I read about on the board, maxing out when I'm not supposed to, going light when I'm not supposed to, etc.

I've been doing well with a WSB style workout because it allows a lot of flexibility.

I've also been doing a slightly modified WSB. I agree I like the flexibility it allows, but it's not my nature to not have a set routine to follow. Call it my engineer backround, but it's been hard for me to be instinctive and vary from what I have written down.

To help teach myself to be more flexible, I started putting multiple possibilities for each day. That really helped becuase then I was still following a "set" routine, but able to be flexible and add variety to my training.
