Another school shooting anyone have details? 27 dead I heard

whatever...

what bothers me about this whole thing is the length of time it took emergency responders to arrive on scene...10 minutes is a very very very long time.

there was a murder suicide a couple of miles from my house a few months ago. Local police force is anything but huge here and the last murder had been over 20 years so I suppose you could argue they don't have much to do but the demographic is very similar to Newtown. From 911 call to police arrival was 45 seconds and the incident did not occur near the pd..it was unforunately too late in that case but what would have been the outcome in the school shooting if it were under 3 minutes?
For my house fire, from 911 call to police arrival (who were here before the FD) was under 3 minutes. For my brother in law cutting off his finger a couple of weeks ago, from 911 to PD arrival under 2 minutes.
The police investigation is saying he shot himself when he heard sirens outside...if an ambulance or firetruck had even gotten there for staging even with sirens blazing would there have been less loss of life?

The details of this torture me.

I know without a doubt my kindergartener's teacher would take a bullet for an one of her students and this somehow breaks my heart a little more.
I'm heartbroken for Ms. Soto's family, that she tried to hide her children and managed to save some, but not all of her students. Those poor children saw it up close and personal. And the anguish the parents must feel...in that situation, like maybe their baby died because they didn't get in to a closet fast enough...perhaps because they were polite or slow to understand the urgency.
It makes me think of my own child who always follows the rules at school...who doesn't push or step out of line....

I think of the little boy who grabbed a couple of his friends and ran outside.

I even think of the reaction of a local convenience store owner...sobbing in her store hours after it happened...which started me crying all over again and giving each other a hug....

so while everyone here is arguing about gun control and what not...I think most people here in this little state are simply trying to understand how this happened, why it happened..how it could possibly occur in this sleepy little suburban usa town that I know for me personally is so very much like my own.

A small engine/equipment store at the other end of the state has a small light up sign outside that sometimes has quirky little saying and often has current deals on it..its currently states "Connecticut's Heart is Broken".

This is the best way anyone can put it.

My husband has an ATF high explosives permit...do I feel more safe because of it? certaintly not in the wake of this, I certaintly won't be loading up on grenades because of it...even if it is within his "right" to have them
...so load up on ammo...load up on weapons... scream about your losely interpreted second ammendment rights..Im sure that community and parents of those children that are never going to come home give one shit about it.

fucking assholes

 you.

tl;dr

it's getting kind of sick now, every time I fire up the internet or turn the tv on it's another story about how exactly this kid or that kid got offed. I mean FFS is that really news? Does the media really have to string this one out? If it was my kid the media would get ZERO info about where exactly the bullet entered my child and the size hole it left as it exited, and who's arms the child died in...what his/her last words were. I mean good god where is this going to end?
