b fold the truth

Elite Strongman
Platinum
Well, on top of having two bad workouts last week, not feeling well, djing a wedding last night in a reception hall with no airconditioning and not eating enough lately...Night Fly decided to surprise me an show up Saturday night!!!!! :)

All in all, it went pretty well. I woke up feeling pretty strong and have been having the urge to do deadlifts now for a few days. My contest is on next Saturday, the 18th.

Deadlifts (raw)
warm ups
495 x 1
545 x 1
607 x 1

Band Ham Curls
mini band x 10 reps
mini band x 5,5,5 (straight, inward, outward)

Rev Hypers
mini band x 10 x 2 sets

Log Press (loose shelved belt)
240 x 6 in 22 seconds
212 x 6 reps

Yoke Walk
615 x 150ft

Tire Flip
1,000 lb tire x 2 flips (tied PR but this time was easier)
600 lb tire x 1 flip

Farmers Walk (rolling handles)
150's x 150ft with 6 turns
200's x 100ft with 1 turn

Keg Carry and Load
180lb keg, 25ft and load onto platform, 6 trips

All in all, it was a good workout. We cut our volume down a bit trying to make sure that we are fully recovered for the contest Saturday. Night Fly had a good workout too...speed squats, band curls, rev hypers, cleaned the log twice, 345 yoke walk for 150ft, several farmers walk sets, and a "wooden keg" carry...load...and sled drag. It was pretty nice...

Here is a pic of me doing the 240 log press. You can see how I used my belt to create a "shelf" for the clean.

You can see my rev hyper set-up with the mini band.

Farmers with the 200's..were fun with the rolling handles...haha. Glad I have long fingers...

Just before I began yelling...

After a few loads of the keg already...

On the way to loading the last one...whew...

Haha...I wear Chucks when I squat, deadlift, and supe yoke walk. I have been wearing my new balance shoes when I do the farmers because I feel like I can "run" faster with them. I also do the tire flip in my rock climbing shoes for support and traction.

I also wear my new balance when I do the log press...the slight heel allows me to use more quad when I am pressing...

The pic of the rev hyper was of my buddy.

:)

B-fold you make that 607 look EASY!

My best that I have done raw was 629 several months ago. The 607 pretty much was easy...would like to hit a new PR...but it really isn't that important as far as transfer over to my events.

Thanks

You really did make that 607 look easy. You even said that it still felt light after you finished it...but you wanted to stop anyway. Who knows what you could pull now...you have really gotten so much stronger. You are awesome!!! (okay, so I get to brag on YOU every now and then! :) )

B.

Thanks man...I am getting there.

Night Fly: Thanks Belle...I thought that I could have gotten the 629 or maybe even around 650. Still not wanting to wear a belt or straps...but may wear a belt when I push the 650+ range again.

Thanks man...it is my best Big 3 lift by far.

what do you think you squat is at?
your bench is above 400, dead is over 600... squat should be somewhere up there.

i was watching your tire flip... its interesting how hard it looks... althought it looked like you could've cranked out another one or two more flips

I honestly have no idea. I'd like to think that I could easily squat 550 raw...but you never know till you try it...ya know? I might get more...but who knows.

I can easily do a raw 405+ bench, pull in the lower 6's, and squat mid 5's...all raw...but I really don't focus too much on these three...they are all my "auxillary" exercises for my events.

The tire flip isn't too bad but I really didn't want to kill myself on it 6 days before a contest. The flip uses about every muscle in your body. Calves, quads, hams, back, arms, chest, shoulders...etc... My large tire has very little to grip on to also...and if it slips...it can be very dangerous. Gary Taylor shattered his leg a few years ago at a WSM I believe slipping with a 900lb tire...anything can happen.

I don't know what the weight is to pick up...but you still have to shoot it up and incline bench press it over from a partial clean point.

Thanks...we all push ourselves no matter if we are deadlifting 600 or 60lbs. We are all pushing ourselves.
