Remember guys, my "seizure letter" was for Cuban cigars, not gear. At the time of my order, and I explained this to the customs agent in charge of my "case", I did not know they were illegal. The agent said I had two options, if I wanted to contest the seizure a hearing date could be set up or I could foerfit my cigars and the case would be closed. Since they were illegal I decided to forefit the cigars.
After this happend, I talked to a friend of mine in customs and asked for clarification on seizure letters. He told me that there are three types of letters that go out, usually all certified. He said it is very rare anyone gets prosecuted on the first or second time they have a seizure. Without you actually receiving the package, they cannot prove you (1) ordered anything illegal and (2) took posession of something illegal. However, he did say your address may become flagged for any/all out of the country deliveries.
It's a mess. I wouldn't mess with international orders. I would only go with a local remailer if I did gear.
