Am I killing my kidneys?

I've been eating a 3100 calorie diet with about 230 g protein (50 c/30 p/20 f), and I though the 230 grams of protein was good since I'm just 138 pounds. Now , somebody tells me that I might be compromising my kidneys my eating so much protein.

I quickly replied that I drink plenty of water (i don't count, but I'm sure it's like 16 glasses or more), and then he says that drinking that much water may be putting even more pressure on my kidneys (they need to filter it).

How can this be if my muscles are using this excess protein and water?

Secondly, I hear a lot of you do this diet where you get very few carbs, but how can I bring the carbs way down if I need to get close to 3000 calories to bulk up (I'd prolly need 2400-2500 calories just to maintain my weight!). That would mean eating like 450 g protein, 100 g fat, and like 50g carbs for me, and that's crazy.

I thought my 50/30/20 diet was good for bulking, but I get this feeling that the carbs are gonna be stored as fat after hearing everyone talk about these low carb plans. Is the low carbs just when you drop the calorie intake? please explain.

1)Who ever is telling you protein intake is bad, is either ignorant or plainly dumb
2)Don't believe everything you hear
3)You should not run CKD while bulking unless you are doing 3/1 3-ketosis 1-carb-up
But, trully, I rather eat a protein-cycling diet.

it is true that a high protein diet puts added stress on your kidneys, but drinking lots of water cleanses your kidneys out
if your still worried try some cranberry extract

if it worries you take some milk thistle or cranberry extract.just keep drinking a lot of water aday,i don't see how you will have any adverse affects from breaking that up over 6-7 meals aday.you gotta feed those muscles......

What you need to do is get a simple blood test while on a high protein diet. Some may not have problems while others will AND DO experience kidney problems on high protein diets. I don't think you need more than 1 gram per pound body weight. If you're really serious about BB'ing or your health, do what you need to do to be safe and you won't have to guess and worry- you'll know what's going on with your body.
