Am I getting fat from Isopure???

My diet has been VERY clean for the last month. One cheat meal
on the weekend that's all. I have been just keeping carbs VERY
low and eating mainly salads and grilled chicken. I would eat about 4 egg whites and a few slices of turkey everyday at about
10:am as my mid-morning meal but just changed it to a HALF
serving of Isopure. I understand that there are a very low amount of carbs, but the source is Maltodextrin. You think this is
causing it and I should just look for some protien that has absolutely zero carbs???

I doubt very much that it's the Isopure...maybe you are not eating enough....

Tell us your stats and give us a better idea of what you typically eat in a day.

Maybe you are not eating enough good fats. With your carbs very low you need to up the fat. If your carbs are low and your fat is also low, your body with resist using any stored potential energy. Also, you may want to read the articles on leptin.

Very True!

I am 6"5 and 265 lbs. I eat about 5 to 6 times a day. My meals
usually are almost the same every day.

Breakfest- 1 Isopure shake w 1/2 bananna made with 5oz skim milk.

Midmorning- 1/2 Isopure shake made with water.

Lunch- Salad w Grilled Chicken Breast (2) and less then 1/2 cup
of pasta. Balasmic vineger.

Midafternoon- 1/2 Isopure shake made with water.

Evening- Salad w Grilled Chicken, no pasta, low fat dressing.

Before Bed- 1 Teaspoon Natural Peanut butter (and a swig of
skim milk, just to wash it down;)

That's basically it. I also consume about 2 gallons of water a day
and am presently doing 3 days cardio per week. Also taking
e/c/a. My thing is I noticed my mid-section starting to get really
soft and rolley-polley since I have been taking in more Isopure
as of late. I guess I should throw in some Flax Seed oil. I was
also planning on adding a LOT of ALA soon. I will be cutting until
the middle of April, and then I will start operation 'BULK UP!"

Your fat intake is very low. Take a few Tbs of Flax oil daily. Also maybe substitute salmon in one of your meals instead of Chicken

Only speaking from my own experience, I have had more success cutting if I get my carbs from oatmeal, veg, and sweet potatos. So you may want to sub the banana with a 1/2 cup oats. Also, sub the milk for water. Some may have success with the milk, but IMO water would be better. Plus, try eating a 4-5 oz chicken breast + 1/2 cup cottage cheese and 1 Tbsp. flax oil for your last meal. This will give you chicken protein, whey and cassien as protein source and the flax will so the absorbtion. This will feed you longer throughout the night since you will be fasting for the next 8 hours.

I will throw in Flax. I am ordering from Mass Quantities tomorrow.
As for the cottage cheese?..I can't stomach that shit. It's just too
nasty to me. I will have to figure out an alternative I guess.

gUiLe,

At 6'5" 265, I don't see near enough calories there. I'm 6'1" 225 in the offseason and around 200 or 205 for contest. I typically get around 2600 calories per day during diet time, with no cheat days. I have a spreadsheet of my diet in MS excel if you are interested in seeing it. I can also direct you to my website for pics so you can see that I'm not just feeding you full of bull. Like a few of us said before, keeping your calories that low will actually cause your body to go into "starvation" mode and it will hold on to every last bit of fat and metabolize hard earned muscle for fuel. Also, there was more good advice from someone else earlier regarding cutting out the banana and milk. They are full of sugar and should be avoided or at least minimized during dieting. 1 medium banana has 26 grams of sugar in it, 1 serving of milk has 13 grams. Let me know if you want the spreadsheet, I'll e-mail it to you. Unless there is a way to include an attachment in a post...

Try the cottage cheese with a few equal, or Splenda....and also toss in 1Tbs of natural peanut butter and a couple sprinkles of cinanmin. You'll think you were eating desert :p
