now I see these tear jerking commercials where people are recording their messages and sending them to the soldiers saying thanks. What a fucking joke! We threw a ticker tape parade for desert storm vets and spit on the ones who fought in Vietnam, like it was their fucking choice to be there!

I like this.......the truth. Too bad others won't hear what you're saying.

Problem is, the people who just became "patriots" have no clue what a patriot really is. Your post validates them as fickle patriots. True patriots are aware of what's really going on, and what's happened with the people of the US, military, civilian, or abroad.

For some reason it is the clowns with flags sticking off their cars that really gets to me. It is such overt patriotism. "Look at me I support our county, I got a flag on my car...."

And you still can't get half the population to remove their hats during the national anthem.

Maybe Sept 11 served as a wake up call to those people who had forgotten what it means to be American. It's amazing how a common enemy attacking you can pull people together.

As for Vietnam, your right, those kids did not deserve to come home to that, or even to have to go over there to bail out the French. Problem was people's anger over the situation was out of control and mis-directed. Should have been focused on Kennedy and Johnson for getting us there(not to mention the French)!

I disagree, there is a respectful way of displaying the flag and disrespectful ways. Am I a patriot if I wear a Larry Flynt style american flag diaper? or am I just shitting on the flag.

Besides, isn't there laws/rules/guidelines something that dictates what the proper way to display a flag is? For some reason I doubt tying the sucker to the antena of my Datsun B210 and rattling down the highway fits in there anywhere. I could be wrong though.
