About my weight going from one extreme to the other.

Hi,

I am getting a little worried. I have been having this problem for sometime now. I started out at about 13 stone in weight and then started on the roids. I then went up in weight very slowly. I managed to reach 14 stone, which took sometime, but for some reasone I cannot keep over the 14 stone mark.

I have changed my diet and I'm now eating alot healthier. I find that nearly everyday I eat quite a bit of calories including alot of protein.

The only thing is that during the day my weight increases. Whenever I go over the 14 stone mark I then go to bed and wake up in the morning. I weigh myself and I am back where I started in the morning the day before.

For example,

Most days I wake up in the morning weighing something like 195lbs. During the day I will eat and drink and my weight will then increase during the day. By the end of the day I will weigh myself and will have gained about 4-5lbs during the day making my new weight of 200lbs. I then fall asleep and when I weigh myself in the morning my weight is back at about 195lbs. I keep losing alot of weight during the nights plus I seem to loose quite a bit during the day aswell, which I don't notice so much as I am putting it back on by eating.

Does this seem right.

Do you other bodybuilders loose quite a bit of weight throughout your sleep.

I do sweat quite a bit in bed, so I have now put a fan right next to me and I keep it on while I sleep, but I still am loosing the weight. Is this natural or is something wrong.

I am trying my best to bulk up and put weight on but it seems that I have hit a brick wall and 14 stones is the max weight my body wants to go.

Please help!

Thanks!

If your not gaining weight then you have to eat more calories, simple as that. As far as losing weight over night, yes that's normal. It's mostly water weight, food, whatever.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!

I don't quite get it though as I eat loads and loads of caleries.

I must be eating more than what I need as I have even tried force feeding myself, meaning that I have even tried eating when I don't feel like just for the sake of trying to gain some extra weight, but it is just not doing nothing.

I know force feeding is not a good tactic, but I thought that I would just give it a little go.

do you track your calories now? if so then just add 500 to your daily intake. that would put 1lb on you a week. If you don't then start doing it this week. Then at the end of 7 days add up all your daily totals and then divide by 7 for your daily calorie needs. Yes sometimes you need to force yourself to eat. That's why calorie counting is the best way to lose or gain weight, because you "know" for sure that you're eating the right amounts.

Is it dangerous to eat well over the amount of calories that your body burns of a day.

For example, if I eat over 1500 more calories than what my body needs, will that be a health risk as I need to put on some body mass quickly.

Also, I have never really calculated my calorie intake, but I know that it is definately above what I should be needing, which is about 2000 calories as I weigh 198lbs and I am male and about 5ft 10ins.

Your body needs way more than 2000 cals, I guarantee that. Everyone is diff. and no online calculator can tell you exactly what you need. you prolly have a fast metabolism. Go to www.fitday.com and put in what you ate today, and I bet you'll be surprised that it's not as high as you think. Right now you're getting what your body needs because your not gaining. eating way over your needs, which implies you're gaining weight rapidly, would just lead to more fat than muscle gain.

I have tried the link and have added the foods that I have eaten. The foods that I have added is not 100% correct, but I have added the nearest with the similar amount of calories and protein.

It is telling me that I have eaten 3428 clas, 68 fat, 533 carbs, and 180 prot.

I had also weighed myself this morning and have now just weighed myself again and have gained 7lbs throughout today. I have a feeling that most of that if not all of it will be gone by the time a wake up though and it will just be like starting again.

Alot of that weight is probably water though as I have also drunk quite a bit today.

My intake today has been as follows:

*1 130 grams can of tuna in sunflower oil
*3 dishes of porridge oats with milk. Each dish contained about 1 cup of oats (a normal sized cup as what you drink from.)
*1 big plate full of pasta (wheat) that included some cheese.
*3 whey protein shakes
*1 ice lolly (had this for a treat)
*over 2 litres of water

I have probably had a little more but can't remember.

Thanks for all of the information. I will take it all on board. I will try to measure my calories more now so that I can try to gain weight, but not to much if any fat.

I have NO problem with keeping my body weight around 190 - 198lbs. It has been around that amount for about 5 months now. It is just that I can't seem to go over it and then stick to the extra weight that I have gained.

I will try my best now by increasing my intake further and see what happens.

3500 should be putting a good 1-2lb on you a weak but make sure you are eating this much EVERY day. Also I would up your protein to about 250g a day and see if that helps, also try 3750 then 4000 cal a day and see if you notice any weight gain.

Thanks for the information.

I will try to increase my protein intake.

I will try to keep my calorie intake around 3500 to 4000. I found it hard yesturday to eat near 3500 calories though.

Sometimes, it feels as if I am eating every few minutes.

But weight is what I want, so then I guess I have to do it no matter what.

Thanks!

Heres what I have eaten today so far. I may add one or two things, but I don't think I will as I will be going to bed soon. Well anyway, here my figures are:

3129 grams of Calories
95 grams of Fat
335 grams of Carbs
222 grams of Protein

Do you think that above figures are alright. This is my second day of measuring what I am eating.

Do you think I need to cut down on the fat or can't that be helped as there is a little fat in quite a few products.

Heres my percentage totals for a more better breakdown of the fat and other things.

Source Grams Cals %total
Fat: 95 858 29%
Sat: 43 390 13%
Poly: 9 83 3%
Mono: 23 207 7%
Carbs: 335 1228 41%
Fiber: 28 0 0%
Protein: 222 886 30%
Alcohol: 0 0 0%

Are the above alright or do I need to cut down on some of the things. If so then, which ones should I be cutting down on?

Thanks
