A girl at the market today asked me what nationality I was..

danielson said:

she asked him what race he was. this is a SERIOUSLY odd question to ask someone. it isn't racist though, just odd

her response with 'oh im so sorry' is enough to make anyone suspicious.

Ok, maybe she asked me my nationality on two accounts.

First, my skin tone is not like a deep tanners. I don't have that harsh over exposed look. I am not as dark as a black person, Mexican, Islander or what. My skin tone is a very smooth tinted look. Like someone 1/2 Latin. BUT *****BUT***** maybe this is what confused her

The other thing is my hair is the standard American brown. I don't have the black hair like the afore mentioned races. And I speak perfect English without any accent.

I don't think she was being a racist at all. I think she was just curious.

"I'm sorry." is a phrase that is thrown around very freely. In office situations, or other places where people are trying to act civil (granted, not all office situations are civil), it actually is overused, in my opinion. So if this chick said "I'm sorry.", she may not have given it a second thought, just like you say "excuse me" after you sneeze. She didn't know AA or how he would react, and from the reactions just on this thread we know opinions and feelings vary significantly. I don't think it is something that should be read into to this extent.

Strongchick, you support the gay stereotype so well, especially in this instance. You feel that your homosexuality has been insulted so the first thing you do is insult me by suggesting that I am gay. You are a gay woman using gayness as an insult. Since you're black why don't you call me a punk ass nigga and reinforce more stereotypes.

it wasn't a reference to gayness. That was not my intention.

I should have said, "since you are so against hate and cries of racism, why don't you go hang out with your buddy MP5, and support white pride."

but instead, I used the abbreviated version, "go suck his dick".

That makes no sense. Everyone here responded negatively to your comment. You are the outsider. We all want you to leave.

Hey what about my tan? HUH? This post was about me and my tan. Other than Frorider, Pink, and Saint, nobody else has said that much about MY TAN or anything else relevant to the topic!! This post was all about me. ME!!! DAMN IT!!!! ME!!!!

Who cares about some girl from Penn. who was just trying to have a little conversation to break up her otherwise boring and dreadful day?? Nobody cares about her. She was just attempting a conversation, which really is a lot better than some cashiers who just rings up your purchases and glares at you the entire time. What was she suppose to say after guessing me wrong? She said "Oh, I'm sorry" what was an acceptable comment "oh, stupid me. My racist ass should have known better." Would that have made amends? She didn't insult me. She was not derogatory towards me. She was just excusing herself for a mistake she made.

Damn, it sounds like some of you people would have jumped the counter, pulled her hair and smashed her fingers in the cash drawer.

I'm going tanning now and you wouldn't even be able to tell.

I wanted to try the pills you speak of, but I saw a study that showed how crazy high the rates of skin cancer go up while on it.

so I'll just have to settle for the way I am...

skin cancer is ugly on the outside - prostate is only ugly on the inside.

also, there is stuff you can take to fight the prostate, not so much for the skin.
