80's metal musicians' health problems.

I keep hearing more and more of musicans who were in metal groups in the 80's having severe health problems. Is it just because they are getting older, or due to the hard partying.

Robin Crosby~Ratt~passed away due to AIDS
Chuck Schuldiner~Death~passed away(brain tumor, i believe)
Chuck Billy~Testament~tumor
Eddie Van Halen~self-explanitory~Cancer
James Murphy~Death/Obituary~Brain tumor
Bobby"Blitz"Ellsworth~Overkill~stroke

These guys aren't much older than I am ('cept Eddie) and these are some pretty major health problems. There are probably more muscians ill who I haven't mentioned either. I just find this rather strange.

James Murphy seems to be doing pretty well. He is going into the studio to work on a solo album. I know he was in the hospital for a while and was in pretty bad shape. It's possible that his tumor was removed.

Testament is working on a new album as well.

Murphy had such a sick, heavy distorted sound w/Obituary, it was
awesome. I thought that "End Complete" was an excellent album.
Death was much better when he joined them for Spiritual Healing
in '90.

Well Im sure that I heard that Robin Crosby was a pretty serious Heroin addict, so maybe it got to a point where he was sharing pins with other people, and thus the disease.

Edward Van Halen has Lung Cancer and if you know anything about him, you know that he is never seen without a butt going while he is onstage, and is a pretty strict chain-smoker from what I have read. He quit boozing, but kept doing that shit which is even worse.

I've never heard of any of those other people.

Ray Gillen (badlands singer) died of aids in 1990 I believe. That dude had a great voice.

Eddie smoked like a fuckin chimney. It's a shame. One of my dreams is to see VH reunite with Diamond Dave. But Eddie's health problems aren't helping much. I hear Alex isn't in very good shape either.
