Can you, by any chance, explain how deca helps joints? I know you're big on this, that's the only reason I ask. Just doesn't make sense to me, but I guess everyone can't be wrong.

If I could answer that the Nobel Prize may be waiting for me. The studies showing that deca improves spinal injuries and gives pain relief don't offer an explanation. They only note that it works and they give theories. Almost all were done on women with spinal fractures (crushing type) so they have abandoned it because if the sides women get from it. There is no data on men that I know of.

Nandrolone decanoate: pharmacological properties and therapeutic use in osteoporosis.

Geusens P.

Arthritis and Metabolic Bone Disease Research Unit, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Pellenberg, Belgium.

The therapeutic profile on bone of nandrolone decanoate is that of inhibitor of bone resorption with temporary increase in bone formation, followed by an absence of suppression of bone formation, indicating uncoupling of bone resorption and formation. This results is an increase in bone mineral content at the proximal and distal radius, and in some patients at the lumbar spine. Furthermore, nandrolone decanoate increases calcium balance and muscle mass, diminishes vertebral pain and increases the mobility of the spine. Virilization occurred in around 50% of the patients (mainly hoarseness and/or hirsutism), and 9% of the patients dropped out because of this reason. A dose of 50 mg every 3 to 4 weeks is indicated in the treatment of osteoporosis in women, especially when they have low muscle mass, associated debilitating disease, and in patients with corticosteroid induced osteoporosis.

So it looks like it has alot to do with calcium metabolism. I wonder if you wouldn't get the same benefits from vitamin D and calcitonin supplementation. I'm gonna try and look into this...I'll let ya know if i find anything.

I'm close to his age and have more then my share of joint issues. Don't expect the Deca to cure his joint problems, for me it's only been a temporarily fix. Thats not to say I haven't heard of people that have problems disappear.

The doses sound fine, it being his first go round he's going to love it.

Deca is exactly what he needs for his joint and back pain. 300mg will do for a start and may be all he ever needs. He will need test to add to that like you said, even just 100mg/wk will be enough. But 250mg is more fun.

Exactly... Eq will do nothing for joint pain. Deca at 300-400 mg will do wonders for the joints.

I have used both Deca and EQ. I've had surgery on both knees and currently have a lumbar vert fracture, so I can personally speak on joint pain. Deca does help. I noticed no improvement in the pain while on EQ.

Ulter and Radar and a few others are correct....I am even older, I just turned 40. I have been lifting weights for 25 years now. I only experimented with 1 six week cycle of Mexican EQ/Deca about 20 years ago in college. Now I am on HRT, due to my age and sub 200 levels of endogenous test. The deca definitely keeps the joints more lubricated than test alone. Without deca, my degenerative disk in my lower back/spine will cause the nerves to be pinched and I can be in pain 24/7. As long as I keep some deca in my system, I don't suffer at all. The test is good for the sex drive and offsetting any deca-dick issues. Take both (in small amounts) if you can get a prescription for it.
