If the United States were invaded, would you enlist?

if they are residents and entered the country before the age of 26 they are required to register and can be drafted.

Indeed, they can also enlist, one of my good friends in the Army was from some Caribbean island...He took offense if you called him African-American...he is mixed native and black heritage.

Also, I support giving citizenship to anyone that serves honorably for five years in the military.

I'll hook up with the best paintballers in Ohio, cus they do more urban combat training constantly than anyone who has actually been in a war

Awesome...lol @ paintball physics applying to real weapons...and even more lol @ paintball tactics applying to real war.

i'm saying to feel patriotic and responsible is admirable and welcomed, but when you have an army shooting at you and trying to invade your land because they were given orders, and you have to put on army clothes, grab a gun and play soldier boy, it's a whole diff story....you're going to get yourself killed, no offense.

I come from a country were we know and understand war like its a bed time story. That's not a good thing at all. I am so happy I'm in Canada. The day I become Canadian and get my citizenship will be the proudest day of my life. Not saying I do not respect and still hold dear where I come from, but I hate that if war comes near, I know more about how to survive and fight that everyone on this board. I witnessed 4 wars...can you even comprehend that? I survived 3 invasions of my country and 1 civil war. The things I've seen are horrid, grotesque, and unequivocally unnecessary. Shit that makes you lose your appetite. Permanently. So when I see people talk about how they're going to take up arms and fights, excuse me while I call bullshit. Go back to your quite, respectful and admirable lives...you need not worry about your country being invaded. It's the US that does all the invading. Nam, Iraq, etc....trust me orb, it's poor sorry countries like mine that get hammered and it's people like me who lose families and land....countries like the US will never experience that. You're safe.

this is a great post but you are using your selective memory to judge america, making it seem that all would be peaceful if it wasn't for america...forgetting that iraq invaded iran, the khmer rouge destroyed it's own populace (not vietnam but right next door), somalia's varioius different warring factions...point being, pretty much every country has a history of violence and only pointing out america's deeds is pretty half-assed.

Only difference is, The US is the only third party involved out of everyone you named. Hence, it's not its business, yet it's there anyways. I do not doubt the history of violence from everyone else, but I don't understand why the US got involved in the first place with everyone else...power struggle is the key initiative.

I get what you're saying though.

So you must have been some super duper black ops ninja in the first Gulf War huh? The way you talk about war, Genereral Patton, makes it sound like you were responsible for all 5 deaths in that hideous bloodbath.

I'm just curious, how many of you have actually fought a war, or know someone who did or died in a war, or even have held a gun? :) It' easy to speculate, but when push comes to shove, it's a whole different animal. I understand sense of patriotism, but from someone who comes from a third world country, who was raised during war, and lived through war, both foreign and domestic, and have "experienced" war, I'm telling you, it's quite different when it's on your own soil and it's coming for you.

Fundamental points. "Gee I hope our boys come home safe!" is completely different from having your city shelled from enemy lines 30 miles to the east.

And you're right. It's been 5 generations or more since any U.S citizen knew what it felt like to fight on their own soil.
