I'm just curious, how many of you have actually fought a war, or know someone who did or died in a war, or even have held a gun? It' easy to speculate, but when push comes to shove, it's a whole different animal. I understand sense of patriotism, but from someone who comes from a third world country, who was raised during war, and lived through war, both foreign and domestic, and have "experienced" war, I'm telling you, it's quite different when it's on your own soil and it's coming for you.
I'd do the civilian scientist thing, like Feynman and other sciencedoods under Oppie in WWII. I've never given much thought to fighting/gruntwork since I'm asthma disqualifiedpwned from active service. Again, what Alc said; hell, I've never owned a gun and wouldn't even know how to use one.
