This shit goes on a lot on our 400 series of highways. One guy had a Camaro with a fuggin Nascar motor and the cops couldnt catch him at 178MPH (yah miles not KM)

TORONTO - Toronto police have charged a driver with stunt driving after stopping a car reportedly clocked at about 250 kilometres an hour.

The high-performance Infiniti was stopped early today as it flew down the southbound lanes of Highway 400 in north-end Toronto. Provincial police Const. Scott Mulville says he has "never heard of a speed this high ... nothing in the range of 250 ... it's a pretty fast driver."

Mulville adds, "there's no excuse for that kind of speed."

The vehicle was impounded for a week under the province's street racing legislation and the driver faces a fine of up to $2,000.

The unidentified driver also faces the loss of six demerit points and will appear in court next month.

The top speeder of the day, and one of the fastest ever caught on Highway 407, was a 23-year-old Markham man who was clocked doing 238 km/h in a heavily customized yellow Infiniti moments after entering the highway at Brock Rd in the late morning.

"Not only was he charged with speeding, he was also charged with operating an unsafe vehicle because his car had been lowered and the wheels were rubbing on the fenders," Woolley said. "That's a recipe for disaster, especially at high speeds." Police impounded the vehicle.

Funny thing is we just instituted legislation against street racing where you lose your car for a year. This guy wasn't racing?

6 points and $2000 seems a little light.
