workout routine on steroids

hey evrybody....just wondering if my shoulder workout is too much or not enough...appreciate it!!!

Shoulders:
Barbell shoulder press
dumbell shoulder press
L-lateral raises
front lateral raises
reverse pec deck

just one of each?

bar and bell presses seem redundant. Why not alternate between them each workout.

I'd like to see some Arnold presses in there. Maybe some shrugs too.

definitely dont need to do military/barbell press the same day you are doing dumbell presses. Like Centy said, alternate between the 2. Also your front delts get hit so many times when you are exercising other body parts I dont believe front delt raises are necessary. Youre overtaining them at that point. Stick to side lateral raises, bent over lateral raises or reverse pec deck. Throw in some shrugs at the very end of your routine and you are good to go! I hit shoulders real hard once a week. So hard I can barely put my backpack on when Im done and lift my arms to drive home.

Press variation (barbell, DB, arnold)
Lat raise
Shrugs
Rear delts

Some would add upright rows, but I refrain from them- Too much risk of injury

Lat raises to warm up
some sort of shoulder press (db, barbell, hammer strength)
upright row
Behind the back shrugs

3 sets of 6-10

call it a day, no need to do barbell presses and db presses. I think if you do barbell presses and you have enough left to do dumbbell presses, then you arent going heavy enough on the barbell press. feel the muscle work, dont just throw th weight up and down. quality over quantity

Do you work out your traps seperatley? If not throw some shrugs in that routine. Thats alot of shoulder work but if your makin gain keep it up.

I'd switch the barbell shoulder press with the military press.

How many sets are you doing for each?

You can get rid of the front laterals for now...

you guys know shrugs are for traps, and the trapezius is a back muscle (not a shoulder muscle), right?

personally, if you're doing all that in one workout, I think it's overkill unless you're using pretty light weights.

explain a front lateral raise, please? Do you raise it to the front and then to the side (lateral), or does one arm raise to the front and the other laterally, or what?

Yeah.

Traps run down 2/3s of your back. Why anyone would train them with shoulders is beyond me. I have seen guys on here recommend training shoulders and traps, then the following day training back. This is stupid and obviously taken directly out of one of the muscle rags. You know one of the "Pros" workouts.

I'll do back on Tues, delts on Thurs with shrugs on Thurs as well.

Your back is the second largest muscle group in your body, why kill the whole thing in one session?

The Shoulder is a joint that lacks stability, and tires easily. After presses and lateral raise, you've hit most of it. Add in another exercise or two and your done with your workout- in about 30 mins. I'll throw shrugs in there along with calves to keep me in the gym a little longer, and heart rate still pumpin'

So that you can put all your effort into it without differant parts being compromised. For me, a back workout would leave me wasted, more so than a leg workout. Alot of back moves target more than one area aswell, like the deadlift which targets spinal erectors and traps, BB Rows target lats and middle back muscles.
