So we all have diffrent goals here some compete some do not. For me something that is very motivating is weekly or bi-weekly progress pics and stats recording them and reporting them to others helps me stay on track. So here is my challange ladies lets get to posting these pics so we can cheer each other on to our goals. Every time you post your progress pics with stats and what you have achieved from the last set of pics I am going to give you 10,000 karma points. I will be weighting myself and doing my body fat tomorrow morning along with taking pictures to post as well. We are all in this game together ladies so lets be sure to support and cheer on another on!

OK ladies I am completely embarrased to post these pictures. I have put on about 20lbs of per fat since my BA :worried:
Stats 5'5 3/4
Weight 193:worried:
Bodyfat 100% kidding yet to but it is higher then it has been in years. Still have to do it.

For refrence point my weight in my avatar was about 173 my short term goal is to get back to there or better before the new year.

You know QT, I was thinking about this myself. Why not have a "Get into better shape BEFORE the holidays" as opposed to "Help me get rid of all the holiday gain". Win/Win situation for everyone I think.

Since I don't competitively lift I want to be able to build my endurance with swimming and aquatics and lean out a bit by cleaning up my diet and seriously cutting down on alcohol consumption. Who knows? Maybe I can get the Old Grump involved! He has high blood pressure and needs to get his sorry old man ass into better shape in general.

Will post up pics.

Kick that Grump in the ass and get his blood pressure down. How will he live when I come to visit and both of us are bikini ready we don't want to kill the old fart it is really for his own safty. ;)

LOLOLOL, this is great, I am a bit of a chubette too, I have put on about 6 kg/14lb/one stone since my last comp.

It is kinda cute chub right now, but it isn't going to be for much longer.

You are awesome SuperQT

OK... I took two sets of pics, one just standing and one a bit flexed. I know my posing sucks because I've been out of the game so long but I wanted to give a bit of comparison for those who don't know how much of an illusion (POSING IS VERY IMPORTANT WHEN COMPETING) bodybuilding/figure/fitness is (meaning illusion is a great component of presentation).

I haven't lifted in months. My workouts consist purely of swimming and aquatic movements. Been going 4 days p/week 30 minute sessions. But have been thinking of mixing it up again by doing some weight-resistance training (quick sessions, compound movements - supersetting/giant setting/full body type (no more than 15 minutes) followed by 20 minutes in the pool.

I am thinking with the better diet this will help me lose that last *little bit* of body fat while strengthening my heart and buidling my endurance.

I will have to work on the grump to get pictures. KYUTE as he is, he is afraid that he will be mobbed by all the internet hotties! :lmao:

You look dam lean still probably may 5-6 lbs of real fat then a little water weight.

I posted these in my journal originally to show how you can change your body composition with added weight. I added some additional ones of my back and legs. As you will see I have legs of a power lifter  Sure wish you could spot reduce! The quality isn't great of the 08 pics - they were taken with my phone or laptop camera - they seem granular. I'm getting ready to take some time off in December from lifting so it will be interesting to see what I look like at the end of December (I'll continue with cardio and my diet will be key). I will be starting DC training in January so I will take pics again after that cycle.

2007, 122lbs
(I lifted but not intensely - I was still dancing tons of hours and eating as I wished)

QT - I can tell you have some serious muscle, lotta years of hard work. Can't wait to see the progress pics. :)

Ironwings - girl you look like you could kick my ass without much thought to the matter. Never EVER worry about shapely muscular legs being a negative thing as they are a SUPER plus. One of the things that always hurt me competitively is that I had chicken legs (as ya'll can see... I still got 'em).

Now, who else will jump on the bandwagon?

Sorry but ya'll won't see HYUGE changes to my physique as that isn't really my goal here. I am fighting severe depression and am using QT's invitation to try and keep myself on a positive and healthy track. I am thinkin, that not only will I kick my Old Grump's ass but I will be forced to be held accountable for my own health and well-being.

I think this is very brave and admirable that you would post pictures and work towards a short-term and long-term goal.

You ladies have my encouragement and enthusiasm and I'll be watching this thread closely :)

But I wouldn't dream of even trying :qt: How about I give you a couple inches from my legs? LOL

You have inspired so many. I battled depression too a few years ago so although I can't understand what you are going through I can relate on a small scale. Working out at that time in my life became my refuge (along with dance). It made me feel so much stronger inside. I hope you will continue to share.

Stay well.....everyone of us are on a journey. For me there is no end. It will always be a journey. I hope you see the same!

I will take some pics this weekend.

After two months off my diet and getting lovely and chubby, I am moving into phase one of my diet for next year.

I.W- Your waist is perfect! love the back photo- whats your secrets to wittling your middle?
No secret here. Intense training and nutrition are key. Don't tell anyone I had cheesecake this past weekend :chomp: (I RARELY eat sugar but it was soooo good)

The key is to know your body shape and work with it - not against it. Embrace it and start sculpting away. I genetically have a "thick" middle and wide hips so I have to build my shoulders and back to compensate. The "V" you see in my back makes my waist appear smaller than it really is. To give you an idea here are my measurements (much to be improved):

shoulder width: 39"
chest (under breasts): 29"
waist: 26.5"
hips: 37" (ouch)

So, you can see that there is a drastic change between my shoulders, chest, waist, and then out again for hips. Now I'm focusing on my lower back to tighten it up even more. It is much better to approach your body this way than to get frustrated over something that is simply the way you are shaped. No matter how much body fat we carry, we all have a figure underneath. And they are not all the same! It is more about how you feel and how it looks on you!

I guess I shouldn't complain about my legs if I'm going to eat cheesecake :(

Superqt
I wanted to commend you and show support for you and your goals.I hope everything works out and you get back on track. You do have a loto fo muscle and will trim down very nice

to all the others that posted pics.

It is really eazy to post before and after pics together and show the progress once it is done. But to post current pics is a very brave thing to do.

You have some good lat spread bm. Still looks like wings there.

Good luck to all the ladies.

I've always had a craaaaaaaazzzeeee back, but as you can see, chicken legs and thick waste and though I'm not flexing, let me volunteer that I got NO peak on my biceps. LOL

Ironwings you ain't kidding when you say that diet is sooooooo key to whittlin the waste. I eat fairly well, problem is that I often don't eat enough and on the weekends I drink too much. I've been eating more and better and cut back on the drinking - A LOT but still. On Friday I am feeling nice and lean but my Monday I have that *little little* extra on the back of my waste.

YUCK... hehehehee

QT - I can't WAIT to see your progress. I am thinkin it will be nothing less of spectacular.

Just stepped on the scale this morning 186 :D One thing I love about my body I lose weight very fast but I gain it fast too. If anyone is wondering what fatburns I am taking right now that be nothing. I practice what I preach I need to get my weight and bf down befor I add those in.
Here are the two changes I made to my diet and training this week. Two cardio sessions a day 4 days this week lifted 3 days but that has been my normal for a bit. Oh actually paid attention to what I ate and tracked it limiting my calorie in take.

Here is a picture two months post comp and about 5 lbs over. Is not as bad as I thought, although I feel like a whale and reatining a lot of bf on my abs. Another pic of my back coming up later today, now I have to run.

Ok, here is the back.
I'm looking to put on 10lbs all together. I'm also doing it slowly in order not to gain too much bf. Maybe it'll adjust itself and I wont feel so bloated..

Can someone show me how to post these pics on the page? They're not coming out very clear..

QT - LOVE that polka dot bikini and Thandie... I HAT you.

I spent the weekend on our friends' ranch. We socialized and ate and drank and laughed and had a good time.

Will resume training tomorrow but WILL ADD some weight resistance in addition to the aquatics.

Thandie - open tinypic.com and you can upload your photos and convert them to message board size - then post.

OK... so today I did lower body workout first time in months and my legs are like rubber.

I did 5 sets of seated leg press. 3 sets of back extensions supersetted with standing calf raises then 25 minutes in the water.

I will alternate lower body/upper body, then graduate to gradually breaking bodyparts down in addition to aquatics.

I need a massage LOL

Awesome!

I'm really proud of you bikinimom for getting back on those weights. I can't wait to watch your progress!

Yesterday was upper body. Went back in the evening to do 30 minutes in the pool.

I did 3 sets of each movement, upped weights with each set, stayed within the 12 -15 rep range, all machine work to keep it quick and easy (didn't have a lot of time - pissed my morning away with dumb shit).

3 sets incline bench press
3 sets of seated machine rows - mid grip
3 sets of standing pull-downs (never did know what the proper name for this movement was - you stand before the pull-down and pull the bar towards your hips)

supersetted with push-ups.

Finished with hanging leg raises.

I ate much more than usual (appetite increased) and feel better and stronger. Today my legs are nice and tight. :) I am thinkin I need a massage.

I should take today off but if my husband actually musters up the desire to swim then we will hit the pool tonite. But if it is just me (he won't go to the gym without me) then I will rest today and hit it again tomorrow - lower body and aquatics.

I was getting a pedicure when I was reading from my blackberry you went back to lift. It put a smile on my face. Keep up the good work!

You know ladies, I was really impressed that I was able to maintain a lot of mass and pretty much stabilize my bf/weight with the aquatics alone. I was especially impressed with my lats, abs, shoulders and calves.

I always knew that eventually I'd incorporate the weights back into my workouts. Heck, I've been lifting for over 20 years! But I had gotten really bored and just unhappy about a lot of things in my life, including the weights. I wasn't competing, knew I never would again and it got to the point where no matter how much I took it easy or rested or whatever it was a torture to go back to the weights...

Now that I am happy with my overall shape (I am still marveling over the fact that I actually maintained my shoulders - genetically VERY weak) and was getting bored in the water it was a good time for me to go back to the weights.

I was considering checking out a wall-climbing gym I found accidentally several weeks back. I am hoping to do that next week.

I figure the more fun activities I have to keep me moving, the better I will feel about keeping in shape. My competitive and fitness modeling days are waaaaaaaay behind me for a few reasons. So I am happy that I had ya'll cheering me on so I didn't give up completely.

You ladies will never know how important you all were to me over the past several months... thank you. It would have been soooooooo easy to just give up and say, "Screw this. I stole a few good years of *hotness* but nothing lasts forever and I may as well except the fact that I am growing older."

I am glad that ya'll were here to help me raise the bar. :)
You have some serious lats - I am jealous! Rock climbing? You go girl! I did this about 7 years ago for a few months and it is a killer. Have fun with it!!

Ok, this is my second attempt to upload these pics..

Same old, same old. I'll call Frank on Monday. Damn, now I'm obsessed.

I still hat you, Thandie. LOL

Yesterday I did upper body:

3 sets free motion chest presses - supersets, high, mid, low.
3 sets bent over single arm cable rows
3 giant sets consisting of: standing cable crunches, push-ups, hanging leg raises.

20 minutes in the pool and I was T-O-A-S-T.

We spent the rest of the day at the motorcycle show at the Dallas Convention Center. Got an exceptional deal on leathers and boots. But by 7PM I was so fried that all I wanted to do was crawl into bed and watch a little TV. By 10PM my lights were out but big.

I feel tighter and can feel that that *little bit* of back fat is finally gone. I dunno if it is worthy of posting a pic. As I said, my progress won't be monumental as my goals weren't necessarily to alter my appearance all that much. But I feel better in general physically AND mentally so I am quite pleased.

God, I'm such a retard..:confused::D

Yes, your progress will be fantastic because you changed what you were doing. Why not give yourself another week before posting new pics so we can get a better idea of your progress.

ugh i guess i could just throw myself right into it and post some hideous photos.

You all have such nice boobies though! Mine are non-existant!

Good Evening Ladies,

I've never posting the the Women's forum before..so I don't know if I'm out of line...if I am...just delete me ;)
*EDIT*....sorry......I lied:( I forgot... I did post in Thandies log!

Just wanted to comment on what a great job you are all doing, and it's really nice to see all of you so support of each others efforts. I have my own journal/log going right now, so I know it can be a royal pain, but not only is it of benefit to you......but to all of our members also!!

I brought my wife to the page today and am trying to convince her to join EF and post up in this thread as she works out with me six days a week.....I think you all would really help her achieve her goals!

I feel blessed in being a member of EF and all the support I've received from members.....IMHO this is the best place on the net!

Keep up the great work Ladies......you all look stunning already...so any changes will just mesmerize us EF male members:qt:!!!!

Have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving! :)

Men are welcome and encouraged to post on this particular forum as long as ya'll keep it respectfull. :)

We are so pleased that you are encouraging your wife to join.

All of us are here for the common good and the more the merrier. :)

Now that I am thinkin bout it, it should be time for me to post up new pics, but as I said from the outset my goals are not really visual but more performance related. I will post up this weekend, but truthfully I don't want to disappoint. I don't think I look all that much different. But I FEEL a whole lot better and my time in the water has increase well past what I thought it would.
That is what matters! The way you physically look is just a side bar ++ to what you are doing. The other stuff is WAY more important!!!

Ok, progress pics; chubby allert!
This is 7 lbs over and 5 lbs to go.

chubby alert? you look fantastic---i may suggest some squats and dead lifts for some overall core development; lunges and maybe a bit of upper back/anterior delt /tricep work....but that is really just playing with perfection.

Thank you eddymerckx! that's very kind of you.
I am most concern with the fluff around my abs. This is due to hormones where one (on menopause) tend to hold bf. The feel of it is a lot worse then it looks. I felt like a cow then. It's getting better however.
I am doing squats, deads, lunges, in addition to working on my delts and back. It just takes a bit longer for women and especially at my age. But, I'll slowly get there by comp time, April-May.

Hi ladies,
These photo's were taken last year. I was out of shape and pretty flabby.
I'll be taking progress pictures as well(probably monthly) and will share them here.
I hope to see results within 6 months.

That's sweet!
MkM, go for a power walk. That way you stay active, or when you return it will be very hard to go back..
My fluff is finally starting to go away, thankfully!

menopause? now i am insanely impressed!!!!!!

I have no doubt you will be ready if you look as you do now.

A good friend of mine has a problem building muscle while keeping trim
(also menopausal)--she found that splitting her cardio to two short sessions--one each before and after her workout helped her build and stay lean w/o getting too lean.

on a different note, she keeps a subtle tan and it helps her realize that the fluff is really not much at all.

good luck!!!!!!

Thank you! I'm 52 and just entered menopause a couple of months ago.
I do the double cardio only when I'm close to comp. It's basically a matter of tweeking hormones. I'm getting a bit higher dose of estrogen and very little progesterone, so is getting better. I'm very stubborn. I could give the illution of looking leaner, but I want to 'be' leaner. Is all attainable, but is like working on a science experiment, lol!
I think I'm a bit thicker now in terms of muscles. Yeah!. I'll post pics on the next few days.
Thanks for the support!

Progress pics taken January 2nd. Legs, back and shoulders are thicker. Yeah!
Still fluffy, but that's ok, I'm working on it.

Curvymommy - LOVE THE AVATAR! I hope we will be seeing more of you in the coming year. :) We all miss you.

:bigkiss: Thank you Bikinimom!!! I  you! I'm so very happy you drew me back into EF with a friendly PM over a year ago, stoking the fire of the passion I have developed for fitness and my health. YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE in my life because of that.:verygood:

I'm gonna be around in 2009! It's just that I'm starting a new career and trying to focus on my family.

Damn Thandie, we should all be that *fluffy* LOL but I do understand what you are saying. I am only in perimenopause and just began the hormonal lab experiment and it is not fun. But I do know 1000% (as if I had a doubt before) there is nothing that will take the place of eating better and moving about.

I don't need any progesterone yet. Just test and estrogen. We are trying to find the proper dosages. My doc will give me as much test as I like. I will up the dose as much as I want as long as there are no sides and I am happy with the result. It's not magic but it definitely makes a HYUGE difference in my fat distribution (as I noted BEFORE my hubbie dragged me on the roadtrip from hell) and my state of mental well-being (or is it the estrogen that makes me feel less crazy, I dunno) and of course, my physical well-being. The flashing and nightsweats were unbearable when they came.

I can't begin to imagine life with that crap for the REST of my life. Goodness I don't know how our mothers and grandmothers, etc survived. :worried:

Thank you Curvymommy!

BkM, I hear you. I'm on .5mg of tetosterone, which is really nothing, but I don't need it much. My Dr. said is bc I train so hard, my test goes up. I'm also very low on Progesterone and estrogen is a bit higher. But is does makes a huge difference. I don't get the sweats, but I get flashes for about 1 minute where it feels like an inferno. I often wonder as well how our parents did it. It's Unimaginable to think of living without hormones.
Thank God for that!!!

I'm actually looking forward to this :p as I'm a "FREEZEBABY" and just can NEVER get warm.
I live for days when it's HOT HOT HOT!!

This is too funny!

I am also very, very cold and looooove 95 degree weather bc I can never get warm. I also used to say I coudn't wait to get the hot flashes so I can warm up. But, the heat is unbearable, then after the hot flash you get a cold flash, and for people like you and I, it feels like a sheet of ice on the body. Not pleasant!
Sometimes when I walking on the street and is really cold I say "God, send me a hot flash" at that moment is really welcomed.

I just took some pics on my phone to see where I am at now (midsection wise.)
It took me a bit to actually get where i'm at now, and am still in progress. Any advice would suffice.

(And yes, my bed is a mess. Oops.)

You look great. Weight lifting is really going to bring your body around where you want it (from what you have said in your posts). I can't wait to see your progress and see some muscle poke! Keep up the great work.

You're doing great. Just be patience!

Not bad, not bad at all! Just need to get back on your diet and will get back on track in no time. Funny how we think we look worst then we do..

thanks thandie! so there is no point sitting around wondering about what i could have done instead of what i could do. yes, i'm getting back on a nice healthy diet and exercise plan. i'm browsing journals here, including yours to get my diet and workout plan in tact and there are some great ideas, of course! we'll see how everything goes.:)

Absolutely!! Focus on what you want to achieve, not on what it should have been. We all go back and forth in our search for health and fitness. Never making a straight line to success.
If you have any questions/concerns or guidance of any sort, please ask. I'm more then happy to help.

i took these in the weekend. i thought i posted them before i left for my short trip. guess not. a bit outta of it as I've been, well is kinda busy.

this is me as of this past Saturday morning BEFORE BREAKFAST.lol haven't had extra time or energy for the gym this for the past couple weeks, but i'll be back in there soon. diet is good/okay, nothing strict as i'm not in any hurry to look a certain way.

they're bad pics but i was in a hurry, but i tried to switch the camera modes to get good pic...oh well.

yes i know, i have no bis! they wont grow! now my back has really gotten wider. i didn't do a back pose before pic, but i feel the difference big time.

here is a pic i don't think i posted, but i was really surprised at the difference a year of unconsistency training could make. i don't know my bodyfat percentage, but its probably between 26-30ish maybe? i should get it checked. separate lower bodyfat is like 55%.lol

wow damn good job girl. Looking great..

I know you did all the work but how much do you think being a part of this site helped you reach your goals?

thanks N2!
EF def helps, i usually only read, and post in the woman's section and chat. but lurk alot in the weight training/diet/muscle food sections. i google if i come across something i don't understand and it links me to other sources and other bodybuilding websites, that i browse through as well. there's ALWAYS something interesting to know. the advice given here is great advice, you just pick and choose which ones your body likes. oh and the stickys are always awesome!:)

oh and i had some really great tips form people that set me off in a different direction as far as peace of mind, clarity, even spiritually goes. its really made a difference. i can't be grateful enough for that.

Ebony - I just want to tell you: GREAT JOB.

Just fantastic. That is a huge difference.

You should be really proud of yourself. Keep up the great work!

I'm floored ebony. We joined here around the same time and i can remember when you posted pics the first time. Your body is looking incredible! Damn!

Just don't tell anyone about your super secret seated leg and core routine. Sell that one day in a book lol.

Our of curiosity have you noticed a paradox? That the less you are motivated purely based on aesthetic appearance that the more quality your program becomes. And as a pleasant side effect you get the aesthetic appearance? If i sound crazy it's because i'm still looking for my face :)

thanx! too late for a book, dammit. i'm only hundreds of years late.lol

Not crazy at all. My focus changed from specifically weight loss (purely appearance) to overall better health a while ago. That’s probably what saved me trying any of the "quick fix" schemes out there. Appearance plays a role, a small one, but the way I feel in terms of efficient health, vitality, strength, clarity, energy focus, ect. is what really keeps me going. I love all that and am hooked on maintaining and getting more of it in my life. It’s the real cake; the changes in appearance is the icing just like you said. So yes, overall plan is definitely better because my main motivation not based on aesthetic appearance. No crazy stuff my body isn’t going to like.lol

Ebony you look amazing. I am so proud of the way you are approaching your goals ;-)

Its a good approach. thanks hon!:artist:

okay found my "lat spread" pic. don't laugh at me, but i think i did it right. i felt really silly doing this one, but i wanna have something to compare and gauge progress.
