When punishing kids --- go wrong

Yes Nerf.

Kids have babies in high school, join gangs, do drugs, commit crimes, drop out - hey it's ALWAYS the kids fault. Never the parents!

I'm sure supermom and dad have the rest of their lives to think about what strong parenting skills they showed off and how stupid their kid was. Dad helped him run away - THAT'LL teach the little fucker!

r

Dude, what the fuck happened to you when you were a kid that has made you so miserable?

Yeah blame the kid supermom!

I'm sure his wife is hugging her husband tonight going "It's okay dear. You did the right thing. He's just a stupid kid and things happen. Go to sleep hon".

Yep!

Sucking dicks for his Xbox fix will do him good.

Think the parents check on line to see if he is somewhere playing the Xbox? Bet he is.

When we were told to stop playing Nintendo when we were kids, we'd simply go outside and play.

I never understood how playing video games all day is more exciting than, like, you know, the entire world and stuff.

I think part of it is parents are to paraniod and try to keep the kids right around the house. When I was young they just said go outside and didn't really care whether I was seen for 3 or 4 hours at a time. Just need to show up for meal time.

Group think seems to be that there's a molester around every corner kidnapping kids. That just isn't true. Most kids are molested by someone they know. By the time I was in 10th grade I was probably 5' 11' 150 or so. That's big enough to get the hell away from people if I needed to. In fact I did have to run for it a couple of times but of course the person coming after me had a good reason. LOL. They weren't out to have sex with me. More like struggle me or hand me over to the cops.

That's relevant how????

This kid ran away....because of his xbox.

We're not talking about some deeply troubled kid who got into serious trouble. he played too many video games, dad put his foot down, he - FIFTEEN YEAR OLD perfectly capable of being held accountable for his own actions - RAN AWAY. Over an XBOX. Not drugs, not gangs, not crime...and did I say it's "always" the kids fault? No, don't think I did. I said in this case, yeah. he's a selfish little prick for putting his parents through that.

And why is this post addressed at me anyway? Did you notice that EVERYONE else in the thread agreed with me? Right, ok.

Ok so what would you do. All those kids you describe above are that way from lack of dicipline and lack of parenting. You are right...parents are to blame but not in the way you think. It sounds like dad should have put his foot down sooner.

I had very strict parents growing up and I am thankful for that.

The dad can't be blamed just for taking a game away. His only other choice is to ignore whatever the kid was doing wrong. That just teaches him that there are no consequences.

Also the dad can't physically stop the child from running away for fear of abuse/kidnapping charges.
