Roid rage

I get it when I can't find what I want!

Yes, it is exactly as stated by needto...just like male pattern baldness. If you are prone to male pattern baldness, aas will only exacerbate the problem. Therefore, if you already have anger management issues, then the problem is more pronounced.

but why?

Anger is a strong emotion of displeasure caused by some type of grievance that is either real or perceived to be real by a person. The cognitive behavior theory attributes anger to several factors such as past experiences, behavior learned from others, genetic predispositions, and a lack of problem-solving ability. To put it more simply, anger is caused by a combination of two factors: an irrational perception of reality (“It has to be done my way”) and a low frustration point (“It’s my way or no way”). Anger is an internal reaction that is perceived to have a external cause. Angry people almost always blame their reactions on some person or some event, but rarely do they realize that the reason they are angry is because of their irrational perception of the world. Angry people have a certain perception and expectation of the world that they live in and when that reality does not meet their expectation of it, then they become angry.

It is important to understand that not all anger is unhealthy. Anger is one of our most primitive defense mechanisms that protects and motivates us from being dominated or manipulated by others. It gives us the added strength, courage, and motivation needed to combat injustice done against us or to others that we love. However, if anger is left uncontrolled and free to take over the mind and body at any time, then anger becomes destructive.

That is by far the best explanation of anger I've ever heard.

Basically anger and immaturity go hand in hand. Men, real men should alway's be able to control this emotion. Losing control of this emotion in today's society will only lead to problems, in relationships, and also of the legal kind.

We are strong powerful beasts, we must control ourselves.

If the sport of bodybuilding is to continue we can't become known as out of control steroided out assholes. It will only lead to more law enforcement in our business.

There is something that is missing from this. Pain is the reason you get angry. The pain could be from the items mentioned or it could be from real pain in your body. Just ask yourself when you are in a lot of pain how short are in? Most people are much quicker to anger if they are in pain. And the more pain they are in the faster they get angry.

I think there are people that get angry from pain that comes from pushing themselves hard in the gym. Pain causes stress and stress causes anger. Those that don't know contribute this to steroids. But in reality it's from pain.

And I must say the quoted statement sounds to have been written by someone that never gets out of his chair. Some sort of liberal arts major.

I was in a rage the other day. It seems that Aromasin caused it for me. I am normally very easy going. Anyone else get short tempered when on AI's?

I almost ran someone off the road they were driving in the passing lane for 2 miles next to someone else and I wanted around. So I pulled over to close and they got in the middle and I passed. I felt bad after is that road rage?

It is scientifically proven and related. Some aas alters a person's temperament and those already quite emotional are usually affected more. It is somehow similar to alcohol making a person's inhibitions.

I am normally a calm, peaceful person but I sometimes become more angry when on. It's not like I go round beating people up but it does happen, to me and to others.

A lot of people are under the impression steroids are totally safe and that seems to be the vibe on this board. Steroids and other hormones do have negative effects. Don't be fooled.

I'm the moodiest and most irrational on pct, and a week or two after it's finished up. I catch myself almost always but every once in a while I'll have a "what the f' was that all about" moment. Other than that, I'm actually a bit friendlier when 'on'.

Myth. Prior anger issues like stated above. Makes me chill if anything. Fina does cause some irritablity tho and halo will make you angry but thats for fighters and for 2 weeks before you hit the NPC stage so not many will have to deal with it.

and some people are ignorant to the fact that steroids have side effects

I agree. While it's all nice and well to present yourself on this board and pronounce things like "it's an inate response to people who have inability to dealing with anger etc. etc." and "I never get angry, its a myth," I think you are lying to yourself and to this board.

While most people never RAGE on someone (those that do obviously DO have anger problems, but the effect is still steroid driven), even a very calm and level headed gent can and WILL have some extremely tense moments over very small and retarded things. AAS either replace, signal or mimic hormones in your body ---> Hormones facilitate emotional response ---> emotional response drives behavior. THIS IS NOT UP FOR ARGUEMENT!!! Don't make me dig out my Phisiopsychology textbook.

So, bottom line is that no one can claim that steroids completely made them lose control and kill a bunch of people. But unless you are a corpse and completely unreceptive to the internal workings of your hormone balance and signaling effects, then you will most definatly notice some aggressive behavior or thoughts that you wouldn't necessarily have while "off." Just as you can't deny you will have times when you are extremely euphoric and at ease, or even moody and tearful when coming off. Everything is amplified. Why? Because you stuck a needle in your ass with a chemical that has way more than your body would ever produce.

is this why smarter ppl are usually pussies, because they have a greater problem solving ability? this is a serious question

Does this happen as a result of too much dihydrotestosterone or low regular testosterone?

mood swings and other psychological sides are actually caused by

the conversion of an AAS to estrogen.

when do most women get crazy? ( well, crazier than usual.) right

before their period, that's when estrogen levels are at the highest

levels.

AAS causing emotional issues is a misnomer. " i get emotional on

clomid." no you don't!!! you are emotional because you are coming

off a cycle and you're experiencing high estro levels.

good question bro!!!

some folks can be very intelligent and very emotionally immature.

at a certain point in every mans life, he must gain control over his

primitive defenses. those that don't, typically wind up incarcerated

and living in trailer parks.

I wouldn't call what I get roid rage, I just get less tolerant to stupid people, especially at work, and instead of not saying anything I make sure to let them know how I feel.

good point, as ive grown older i feel that fighting isnt always the answer anymore

I am a calm person by the nature, but I definitely can't deny that roids increase self-esteem in considerable amounts. And most of the times they increase anger at least sligthly ,too. But this is a good thing unless you are f***ed up to begin with

I also have to disagree with the anger/rage being a result of high estrogen. High estrogen makes you a weepy bitch, like a girl PMS. High androgens make you an angry asshole. That's basically what an androgen is: a man-making, aggressive strong primal instinct.

Just before a woman's period, all her hormones are dropping off, it is more like you lads coming off a cycle with no PCT.

Someone mentioned pain, I think that this is a major cause of anger, and a physiological one.

I have had a few major injuries, and loads of niggling persistent injuries (bodybuilding of course mostly), and I notice how annoyed I get at funny things like loud noises and sounds, which normally never bother me.

Our brains are really three brains in our head, each based on a previous evolutionary development, so there is the inner reptilian brain which controls the whole fight, flight or freeze response, the ???? sorry have to look it up, it is like the paleolithic brain, which rules the emotions, and the outer cerebral cortex, most recently evolved, which controls higher cognitive processes.

It has always been thought that the outer thinking brain dominates over the more primitive aspects of our brain, not so, in fact it is the opposite way.

The fight, flight or freeze response is much faster, and it will dominate all other responses, similarly for emotions, they will dominate unless you stop to think logically.

Mostly all that is needed for the thinking part of the brain to catch up is a wee bit of time, so there really is something to that old wives tale about counting to ten.

Also, of course hormones are going to effect your thought processes and emotions (all emotions arise from the amygdala in the brain).

I will have to double check on this with my neurology scientist buddy if anyone is interested, but I am sure he told me that there are receptors/enzymes that hydrolyse test to DHT in the brain.
