TrueLiberal At the Shooting Range

Massachusetts has some of the toughest gun control laws in the United States. I have to get the FTC permit to even own a handgun. It's also illegal to open carry in Massachusetts. If you concealed carry if anybody even sees your gun, say your shirt lifts and exposes your gun, you are considered "brandishing a firearm" which is a violent felony.

That's not the case lib. Mass doesn't have a law against open carry... However if you open carry and someone says something o a cop they can confiscate your firearm and license on the spot.

I've had a .45 and it was a nice weapon. But the 9mm that I carry is just right for me. Very compact and my aim with it is awsome. Plus I love the recoil on it. I hold 15 rounds in my SIG and my aim is great with every shot. I have a very small wait in between shots. With my .45 it takes me longer to empty my 10 round mag and keep the aim good because of the recoil.

But home defence is something completely different. Tactical shot gun all the way with a Flash light and laser :)

No 15 round clips in ma 10 max. But if you gt a pre 98 assault weapon ban lock you can have the 17 round clips. And I'm all about the 12 gauge for home defense.

Can I be thankful Im a Texan?

CA has the absolute worst gun control laws. Luckily they are filled with loopholes. I have about 6 AR's and a dozen or so AK's.

I live in Maine one hour north from MA and I love the gun laws. A police officer say me putting my M4 in my trunk and pulled up and talked to me for ten minutes lol

I carry a Springfield XD-M .40. It holds 16+1 and is plenty of pop if I ever had to use it. I use hollow point rounds in my clip for self defense.

I think your on the right track, with your leaning towards the Sig, you really cant go wrong with that.

But also think of what you wear everyday, Do you want that weight, and will you decide not to carry because of the lack of comfort and lack of ease in carrying a large cal pistol.

I carry a Smith & Wesson Airweight 442 (black) .38 Special with +P ammo of course. It is super light and with an inside the pant holster I can carry it even while wearing training pants.

I was not a revolver guy either but the weight plus the preformance you get from a +P .38 is not bad. Price was also a factor.

Also think of yourselve under the pressure of a firefight, try to pick a weapon that is easy to use. A revolver is simple, pull out and shoot, no safety or thinking did i chamber a round. Yes these may seem like stupid words but a novice sometimes makes those mistakes.

Bottom line pick a weapon you feel most comfortable with, I dont care if you have a .50 cal, if you make a simple mistake or didnt carry because it was uncomfortable to you, then you made the wrong choice.

But some snap caps (orange practice ammo) so that you can load and function check your weapon while at home. Practice often and know your weapon.

The secret is not to have the fanciest gun or biggest, but to know how to use it when the time comes.
