TrueLiberal At the Shooting Range

Iiberal

I live in ma I just it my class a and bought two glocks a carry and a range gun g17 and a g22. You can only buy glocks used up here in ma so if you want one you have to keep and eye out. I like sig as well though quality weapon there.

Glock's kick hot brass right back into your face. Go for the Ruger.

Originally I wanted a Ruger GP100 .357 magnum. What I like about Rugers is that they are overbuilt. You could bang in nails all day with them, then fire accurately at the range.

The Sigs only occasionally popped brass in my face, usually a ricochet off the barriers at the range. I'll see what the Glock does tomorrow. They also have a Smith and Wesson M&P. Maybe I'll cut to the chase and try out the Smith and Wesson 500.

Thanks for this info. How hard was it to get your LTC A in your town? I'm concerned that in my town, the police wont issue it to me. I have no criminal record and have never even received a speeding ticket.

The gun shop I go to is selling a used Sig P22. Mass is so funny with guns. Apparently some government agency has to inspect and approve any gun for sale in Mass.

Yeah the state police charges the gun companies 15 k per gun per model to test minimum of ten guns needed for testing its why you can buy some brands new and only some used th used ones are he companies who won't pay the extortion fee

I live on the outskirts of Fall River I took. Class did my application and interview with the detective waited two months for my license o come in

Even a .22 cal can stop an intruder. I should have said "more stopping power". I've studied the statistics. Most shootouts end in 4 or 5 rounds. .357 magnum and .45 cal have the highest percentage of one shot stops. The 9mm is usually around 115 grains. A .45 cal is usually around 230 grains. It's has much more impact. If I miss center and put a 9mm round in somebody's leg, they can still move. If I miss center and put a .45 cal in somebody's leg, they are more likely out of action.

I do like the Glock 19 longslide, buy haven't shot it. I like that 9mms hold more and the ammo is much cheaper. The deciding factor is that I feel comfort with the kick of the .45 cal. I shot it more accurately at 30 feet than the 38 special at 20 feet.

I take it you are suggesting the Glock 19. I'll see if they have one to rent at the range.

Ive been carrying since 2004 and I was just like you, all geeked up to carry a big fat .45
Then I actually tried to carry a 1911 with the standard 5 inch barrel. Its just too big for comfort. Compare a 1911 with a G19 Gen4 and you will see what I mean.
As you get more experienced with this whole concealed carry thing, you will find your needs lean toward comfort instead of badassery.
9mm gets the job done bro, check out the foot pounds on some +p loads in hollow point and its really just splitting hairs as far as stopping power.

I get that. I plan to buy something else for concealed carry. The criteria there is to have a gun that wont snag on my clothes and I can draw and shoot quickly. I actually don't want to be comfortable when carrying. I want to be reminded that the gun is there by my side. I also want to get into reloading. I can make custom "hot loads" that have much more power than commercial rounds.

I live alone. I don't think I will date anybody that doesn't shoot guns. Shooting a gun made me realize how you actually have to train with them to be effective. The first few times I shot I had to verbally tell myself each step. I kept putting my finger on the trigger through the whole aiming process instead of keeping my finger outside of the guard. I would also keep shooting high and to the right because I was anticipating the recoil.

Why the fuck do you have to do that?

Massachusetts has some of the toughest gun control laws in the United States. I have to get the FTC permit to even own a handgun. It's also illegal to open carry in Massachusetts. If you concealed carry if anybody even sees your gun, say your shirt lifts and exposes your gun, you are considered "brandishing a firearm" which is a violent felony.

I've had a .45 and it was a nice weapon. But the 9mm that I carry is just right for me. Very compact and my aim with it is awsome. Plus I love the recoil on it. I hold 15 rounds in my SIG and my aim is great with every shot. I have a very small wait in between shots. With my .45 it takes me longer to empty my 10 round mag and keep the aim good because of the recoil.

But home defence is something completely different. Tactical shot gun all the way with a Flash light and laser :)
