I've had to give up on him. All he'd do was talk about how much he could bench. I teased him that I was getting stronger than he a few months back to get him in the gym. But he doesn't want to listen, I told him years ago to ditch the sauna suit, change his diet and do other exercises than the bench but he just doesn't want to get it. I explained exactly why he should do fasted cardio in the morning on his off days..... He phones me on his second day off saying "I done the cardio, I had something to eat before. That's alright isn't it?" I put a lot of time, effort and thought into coming up with a training plan that would work for him and all he could say was "but I wanna bench.." or "but I don't want my bench to get weak"

I dispair, I really do. He's very strong but no discipline or will power. Genetically gifted but with no desire to realise his potential. I think I was more concerned with his development than he was. I explained everything to him, no one did that for me, I had to spend ages reading and reading for all my info.

So now I'm putting all my time and effort into my own training, I've had a few days off due to a minor injury in my back. Now I feel good to go. Got an appointment with a foot specialist tomorrow, the podiatrist has ok'd me to increase weight ever so slightly. So I'm planning on tearing it up as soon as possible. If Kev wants to train them good, but I'm not going to drag his huge ass in the gym, it's just too much effort especially after his ridiculous 2nd 1rep max attempt on Friday.

Great news! According to the podiatrist I have one leg longer than the other and he reckons my right foot is turning over to compensate for my right leg being longer. So, I have yet another insert for my left shoe to lengthen my left leg. I can slowly increase my squat and deadlift weight and I'm back at the podiatrist in 4 weeks time for a check up. :) result.
 
Wow bro I have same problem but my spine curves to compensate I used to get sciatica all the time and that was the cause. The shoe thing should fix it for you. Good news though that it's not too serious. : )
 
My brother gets sciatica, maybe he has a similar problem? I had back problems for years although I believe that was due to excessive kicking with not enough ab work to balance it out. At least I got the go ahead for squats and deads. Won't be going over 50kg mind...

I got another sample of d-test powerchews in my order, nice little bonus especially as I love them li'l bad boys, I wouldn't ever buy them though, I'd just sit there and chew through 'em like sweets!

My Pre Workout contains 1 Apple,a Box of Raisind *oz and and a Scoop and a Half of N2KTS you will keep going & going,thats the best i have ever used.

I normally have a couple of bananas, I can really tell the difference. I'll give the apples and raisins a go and some N2KTS when I get some... :)

Apples and raisins my fave I chuck a few grams of each and almonds in a bowl of porridge with creatine and a table spoon nutella. That's rocket fuel for pre workout lol

Right, I've had several days off to rest my back and now it's time to get back in there and kill it!!!! Today I'm planning on a weight circuit like I did last week but also gonna see if I can bang out some bag work as well. :)

I was punching and kicking for the max effort as well as the 5 mins mod-easy pace. Stretched during rest periods.

Ok, diet today was crap I'm afraid. I couldn't face eggs for breakfast again and somehow forgot my lunch.... As it was valentines day I took my girl out for dinner. Had me a big ole steak, pâté and 3/4 bottle of rose wine.

In total I had 2,470 cals today.
Carbs: 43% 223g
Fats: 25% 58g
Protein: 31% 166g

Ok so this isn't good enough. I need more protein and less alcohol! Lol. Ok I had a cheat day. No choice really and I gotta say, I think I did enough in the gym to make up for the food!

Yeah bro, I'm annoyed with him, he wasn't listening to anything anyone told him, seems to think he knows best. Went and did 1 rep max twice in one week and pulled a muscle somewhere. I'm fed up of explaining things to him only to have him completely ignore it. :( its sad really, he has so much potential but no desire to realise it.

Bad end to the day today. I let one of the guys go early as he kept dozing off, better he go get some real sleep than have someone spot him and get him in trouble. THEN there was a fight at the club in the basement so I had to sort out some CCTV footage for the police who TOOK THEIR TIME!!!! 'kinell what do I pay them for?? Anyway, the night guys were late as well so I had to wait even longer and by the time I got to leave I didn't have time to get to the kickboxing gym! If I had gone I'd get there with about 20 mins to go before the end!

So, no sparring for me tonight! Extra glad I sacked my pre workout 'nanas now! :( interesting thing, I managed 140 punches in 1 minute today without the bananas whereas with them I usually get 170-180+ in my first one minute blast. :) a 30-40 punch difference!

So you're saying after the warm up start straight on the 242lb bench? Yeah I reckon I could bang out a decent set with 242lbs if I weren't so fatigued from the dips and 220lb bench.

I'm on those dips bro, the extra wide version I took straight from that article! It makes a difference of about 1" to my elbow position compared with my usual wide grip technique but DAMN can I feel it isolate the pecs!! I actually prefer dips to bench as a chest exercise!

Or if you are gonna use Dips as your primary chest builder then do similar to that.
When your lifting big weights you must warm up but not to overdo it and use up all your strength.
Also both you and Kev go to google and type in Tate Bench. Check out his instructional series. I gaurentee you that you have faults that he will address.

When your doing your dips. START with partial reps as your WU. Then as your shoulders and elbows warm up and release move on to full ROM.
These can really bugger your shoulders bro so be dam careful and do a full WU.
 
Thanks for that Zed, I like both dips and bench, do you think it'd be an idea to alternate which I start with? I'll make sure to do like you said too regarding warm ups.

Again I'm already on it! I saw a Dave Tate bench article with a video demo too, I've been doing it that way for a while now, I got some looks and a few comments when I started, lol! But I much prefer it. I feel it takes the anterior delts out and for some reason I feel stronger using that method. :)

Carbs: 54% 385g
Fats: 15% 49g
Protein: 30% 218g - better!

Oh yeah that's supposed to be my signature but it doesn't seem to separate it on my phone... :) lol! It's actually different depending on whether I use the EF app or tapatalk. EF keeps crashing so that's why I got tapa.... :)

Not every time, and not when I post but when I exit a thread. So I'll read one thread (make a post/don't post) then when I try to exit the thread it shuts down. A right ole pain in the arse when reading through everyone's logs.
