must be nice. i work half the year out of town in the middle of nowhere so most major holidays everyone gathers im stuck in a little tiny 10x10 room by myself. oh well. i got EF

What do you do? I would wither away if I had to do that.

When I was doing finance I missed a lot of holidays myself...sucked. I felt like if I took off more than xmas day and maybe left xmas eve a little early, I'd give someone room to inch in front of me. I'm competitive as hell when it's all for fun or bragging rights, but I'm too soft on the inside to have ever survived for long in that kind of "out for blood" work environment.

i work on a gas plant in the oil sands in northern alberta. i work for 7 days then i got 7 off. just works out that i miss every holiday i swear. im the same its like a mental complex to lose. i was always the best, or i worked till i was. my trade is sheetmetal but i do maintenance work in general. im currently the lead hand now my next goal is foreman. but all our contracts expire this year so my plan is to get the best contract next year. i spent my down time making sheetmetal flowers for all the office girls so im there favorite lol i made a sheetmetal umbrella for myself today cuz it was raining like hell. lol. we dont have shit for work to do right now.. but for an uneducated 25 year old you cant beat the coin. plus time worked equal to time off is wicked. its like a mini vacay every other week. although i work a minimum of 12 hours a day when im here. plus im on the industrial fire fighting brigade so i train for that after work plus gym time. its hella tiring
