In general or what you feel like you do as an individual. Only so much I can talk about Obama... I mean Osama. (Usama)

I take time for granted...

My grandmother recently passed and I just kept wishing i'd have went and visited her more than I did. :(

time with my daughter...family...though I do try and spend as much time with all of them as I can...still easy to take for granted

I think it's an exceptional question and a personal quest of mine to become more mindful of the good things. Gratitude is a sentiment I'd like to cultivate in my daily life.

people tend to take family for granted......or their significant others.

then also basic stuff. like being able to drive a car or eat warm, hot food on a regular basis.

in developed countries, lots of things.

you'd get a shorter list with things people dont take for granted every morning when they wake up, many of these are in form of annoying complaints; working for things can suck, everyone likes things handed to them.

people take everything for granted that they can get away with; that's how you can move onto bigger and better things.

I don't think you can force yourself to appreciate something you've had for a while until you almost lose it. I mean are you really gonna savor every breath you take? Every bite of food you eat? Humans just aren't wired like that. Wanting more is what allows us to be better than other people, survive longer, and nail more chicks. Hopefully I'm wrong though

That does make sense. I tend to beat myself up over not being appreciative as I "should" be.

I think it also depends on your starting point. Someone with humble beginnings always sees thing s a lot different than someone who grew up affluent.

Probably the five senses, It would be hard to:
Go blind
Be an amputee and wear prothestics for arms and legs (not having usual sense of feeling/touch)
go deaf
lose smell and taste (well OK we all do that when we're old, but still)

I don't even think about how lucky I am when I wake up every day and just go about my daily business with minimal struggle

Good question:

I take many things for granted but especially realize it when I see/watch something that sparks that train of thought. I get really sad when I encounter people who have major issues physically that prevent them from doing normal everyday activities. The idea that they cannot control their arms, legs, or minds is extremely depressing and at times I have cried. These situations expose a side of me that frankly I enjoy tapping into every now and then. At the same time putting yourself in those "sad or depressed" reflecting stages is not always healthy either.

all of the "privileges" that we are afforded in this country, that people have gotten so used to that they now consider them to be "rights".

I've had pretty much everything in my life rocked at some point or another...this is a really pretty broad scope of things

your own health, your family members lives/health, clean running water, food, shelter...
clean air uhhhhhhh, this list could really go on forever

man, I thought you would've said smoke detectors.

too soon...and I had working smoke detectors...

I've stepped up to sprinklers

its semi worth noting I've never not had shoes until the fire tho...that was a pretty basic thing I took for granted
