i def need a 2nd opinion. but who?

Well I'm not an expert, so get a third opinion after this. Still, maybe take a week off. How long has this been going on? Maybe you should try exercising the rotator cuffs lightly to strengthen them. Probably best to do that after some time off though. Where is the pain, exactly? Be more specific.

BRO, what movement in particular is hurting you. I had a horrible rotator injury, I basically stopped doing flat bench and shoulder presses...however I was able to do lateral raises. If something hurts that bad, lay off for a while. If you could still do compound movements like Deads, Rows, Squats etc.. Your shoulder wont miss the workouts that bad. You train for life, a few weeks of rest is fine.

I am in the midst of recovery for a rot cuff injury, which is pretty common in weightlifting. If you can, go see a sports specialist and get an MRI. If it is your rot cuff, an X-Ray won't tell jackshit about the injury. The first doc I saw told me to lay off it and it'll get better. Wrong. I then went to go see a sports specialist and he told me what I was looking for - hit the gym hard with rotator cuff specific exercises. Don't push it bro, the injury could get much worse.

What he said.

I also had an MRI done on my shoulder before surgery and it came back clear. Finally my doctor went in to see what was causing the pain and found that I had torn my bicep tendon completely away from where it ties into the shoulder, plus my labrum was shredded. It is a pain to rehab, but after this surgery and surgery on my ac joint, my shoulder feels a lot better. I lost a little R.O.M. in my left arm, but it is pain free.
