Many readers of the Bible tend to select which portions to honor, and to discredit those portions which they find to be an intrusive.

Not at all. The book is not a chapter by chapter novel. It is a collection of writings, written by men for other men to understand God's wishes. And of course they put some of their own ideas in there as well (that is my opinion).

But you weren't targeting the Jewish faith, were you? And of course I disagree with some things that Jews believe in, that's why I'm Christian.

I would say killing someone is worse than premarital sex, yes. Unless they're the same person, and it's ritualistic. SG can fill you in on those details.
