WTF Tebow Goes First Round

Captain FT

2150 Served and Counting
Platinum
And my Ravens traded out of the first round for 3 other picks...meh

First time ever they traded out of the first round. Guess the Ravens really wanted Dez but after the Cowbows got em.

Cap, I was pissed the Boys jumped up, Ravens only needed Dez if anyone really, I think they are going to do more work in trades now that the draft is over. Raven's are getting stacked this year anyways...

On Tebow, I have a feeling he will show us that "no one will work harder, or try harder, or do anything possible to prove that he is going to be the best that he can be, and give his heart and his soul to the organization, and no matter what they ask him to do, he will do it and be the best at what they need"......or something Tebow'ish like that lol

I want Tebow to blow up and do great now that all the retards on ESPN only talk about his throwing motion, I can name about 6 QBs off the top of my heard with poor throwing motions that don't get ragged on. Eh, whatever lol

The trades we picked up for letting Denver jump in negated everything we gave up to get Q, so we are in great shape. In Oz We Trust!

Obviously Mcdaniels thinks he's gonna be a legit NFL qb. All I heard on the radio yesterday was that if any GM/coach took Tebow in the first, they should be fired lol.I can't say either way as I haven't studied him enough. I would have been pleased if the Pats drafted him in the 2nd or 3rd as a back up/ TE/Wildcat option

Pats reached higher for a CB/kick returner at the later part of the round mostly because the CB class was thin beyond McCourty. Also Belechick saw the writing on the wall with the AFC east with the additions of Marshall and Holmes, his team needs moar quality cb's to ass to Butler and Bodden (Springs and Whilite basically suck).

Also,I've been looking at a lot of the past drafts recently. Look back at all the teams that "filled every need" based on instant reaction and then see how many times you say "Who?" when looking at their picks now. Believe me, it's a lot. Every team in the top 25 it seemed drafted on immediate need.

Still a lot of draft left and a lot of picks to make for most teams

Which is why I think B-More didn't mind losing the first round and now having 7 picks remaining instead of 3. We now have two picks in the second round. In 2008 we got RB Ray Rice in the second round and he turned out ok

Ray Rice? err... never heard of him :kaioken:

lol@ Belechick wining and dining Tebow in the north end in Boston so all te experts could see or hear about it.
His protoge MOVES into the first rd to get him.
FAIL

Tim Tebow will own the NFL within 3 years lol
It will then be known as the National Tebow League
All games will start with a prayer and an honorary "Jump Pass" Drill.
You all will bow before the mighty Tebow!

Tebow will never be like Elway! Elway is one of the top 5 QB's that ever played the game. My opinion is he never
excels past average in the pros.I share the same faith as him, but just because some one has faith doesn't mean
they can play in the pros.

The Cowboys got the best pick in the draft (Dez), so on that note Cowboys 35 Colts 28 Super Bowl XLV winning it
in their new stadium!

Not even...Tebow will be the new face of the NFL soon enough.
My Raven's made the trade to let the Bronco's grab him...Great move, we had 7 picks to play with and we are stacked this year. I hope Peyton & Brady get hurt, then again Peyton lays down anytime someone is within 5 yards of him, so that will probably never happen, but Brady can blow out his knee again and turn to the ref with tears in his eyes crying for a call like he does every game...No respect for people that play a contact sport but bitch about getting hit.

Tim Tebow for Prez! Vice Prez Micheal Vick! lol

You still on that syrup????? :D

I'm a big time UF and Tebow supporter. I wish him the very best in the NFL and I do intend on following Denver and T's career.

The Denver vs. Jax home opener has already sold out. I'm not sure if Jax has sold out a game in the last few years. If jax would have picked him up 10th instead of Alualu it would have meant 10,000-15,000+ more fans in the seats every home game imo. I don't think we had more than one televised home game last year. Everything else was blacked out lol

Tebow was definitely the story of the draft. I expect the hype machine to continue well into the NFL regular season.

I wish, im all out of the Sizzurp, I gotta hit my doc with a phone call, or Pudz...lol

Jax still has a team? That's like saying the Browns have a QB, Jake Delhomo doesn't exactly count lol

you're a disgrace to be called a fan

Fans want to see hits, not flags thrown that give the babies 15 yard penalties because their hand hits the QB's shoulder pad...GTFO

Real fans don't want to see the DB's get to the QB, about to lay a good clean hit, to see the QB lay down, or move to get hit in an "illegal" area, thus drawing a penalty.

Give me a break these "Baby The QB" Rules are BS...

Suggs went for his knees later in that game (bush league), the other hit was late and Brady looked for the call (who fvcking wouldn't?)and got it, and pumped his fist at the fact that his team just got a first down, because Baltimore can't control themselves at times.

All I am saying is wishing injuries to players is something I would have done when I was 13 years old bro.

When Brady wants to play a mans game like a man I may respect him, till he decides to be a big boy he should stay on the sidelines. He's too worried to get that GQ face scratched, Pats would blow half their wins if it wasn't for "Brady Babying". Just sayin...

dez is sick bro.
tebow will be the next elway

retarded thing to say

tebow will surprise people who doubted him and be a winner, but not be a perennial pro bowler, let alone one of the best QB's in history like Elway.

more like a ben roethlisberger type without the rape charges... than a Peyton Manning/Drew Brees type who put up ridiculous numbers and are the standard for fundamental soundness.

do you even watch football? or do you just beat off to the ravens team picture every sunday? hate brady all you want, but you just come off like an idiot when you say things like that.

No shit, Belichick is good buds with your coach. Cunningham, Spikes, and hernandez lol

like i said in plat chat (you probably didnt see), the pats drafted scared me. i heard a lot of pat fans hating on it because they didnt make the flashy pick at WR etc and traded down so much.

i've seen a lot of UF games and i can tell you bradon spikes is a force. he was the best player on a very talented defense the past 2 years. only reason he slipped so much was his shitty combine, but honestly it doesnt matter. the guy is in teh middle of every play and a great coverage linebacker. By next year, you guys will have a great, young ILB core with Mayo and Spikes.

mccourty will help them a lot at a position they really needed help. 3rd best corner in the draft i think. I'm glad you guys skipped wilson and gave us a chance to get him, because i think he'll be a better pro but mccourty will still be pretty good.

bodden is decent, not elite but he's their best corner by far. i think you'll see them take another corner next year with one of their million first rounders (i think they have 3? or only 2?)

and hernandez was a great value pick. he was tebow's safety net a lot of the time, and hes a tough kid.

A lot of UF players don't pan out in the pros, moreso on offense, but this recent team has a lot more pro ready talent...you can thank urban meyer for that

the pats aren't going to make much noise next year with welker out part of the year and the rookies transitionings. Probably another 10 win season with a wild card spot but first round loss. BUT by the 2011 season i'm a little worried the pats will be back to being one of the elite teams in the league. Giving them some time to milk brady more before he gets too old.

i hate to admit it, but its true

Yeah, corners were a coin flip mid first to late second. Mcourty will probably be a nickel back and an elite special teamer. Like they said on the draft shows, you have to load up on good secondary players with B.Marshall, Holmes now in the division. Thanks for the heads up on the UF players as I only watched 2 of their games this past year. I hope they pan out cause our 05-08 drafts SUCKED, and that's why we are, where we are (competitive transition)

Dude, what were the Jets doing letting go of Faneca and Washington? Faneca must have been one of the guy flappin his gums over losing T Jones.
That kinda came as a shock to most. Sucks Washington got hurt, cause he would have landed at least a 2nd rounder.
Tannebaum has made some BOLD moves, Jets are going ALL IN, but some of the things done make me step back and scratch my head.I question if they'll be to slam the ball down peoples throats like last yr. Without Fanecas run blocking (he was meh at pass coverage)and the departure of jones (valid move). Some big egos in one locker room, good thing their moving into a new stadium with a larger clubhouse :)

the jets letting go of t.jones and washington to pave the way for shonn greene and LT is beyond stupid. The Jets were effective because of their run game. Their run game is now weak. I think Greene can be a great player.. but not yet. He isn't an every down back at this point. And LT sucks. He was on a pass happy team and still put up shit numbers.. what is he going to do on a run heavy team?

dude just go google "tebows girlfriend"

be prepared for huge melons

Contact sport has nothing to do with trying to ruin someones career, a hit intentionally at the knees of the QB is an automatic 15 yds.
On top of that the player should be ejected and suspened 2 games
just my 2 cents

Ok but they throw a flag if someone is pushed and lands near his feet, or their hand hits his shoulder pad, or if someone gets bumped into him and he trips over his own feet...There should be an unsportsman-like 15 yard penalty against being a whiney bitch and looking for calls when you know there isnt one.

Dude its nothing against the PATS, I hate Peyton for laying down anytime someone gets within 5 yards of him and he's starting to cry like a girl too. I am against the over protective BS that doesnt let the defenses play...all to protect the "faces" of the game. It takes away from the defense is they have to worry about phantom calls, and penalties, and fines...

-Legacy

Brady, Manning are the golden boys of NFL, of course the refs are going to protect them!
Manning falls down when someone gets within 5 yards of him because he's mobile as a brick wall!
And I don't blame him,i t's worth millions to him! Brady on the other hand has PTS from that cheap
shot he took, i would be crying to the refs too. His career is on the line, and of course millions of
dollars are a stake!

Anyway, it don't matter anymore ROMO is the new golden boy now!

2005 draft sucked? Dude you got logan mankins, nick kazcur, james sanders, ellis hobbs and matt cassell. i know this because i looked it up when i was having a debate about recent draft history.

i think 2006 was when you saw the falloff.
The only impact guys you have drafted then (hard to make a judgement on 09 right now) are Mayo, merriweather, gotkowski. Edelman might be ok, but given a 4 year or so span....that's not a lot of good decisions. Mayo and merriweather are really good, but thats only a couple of guys.

I agree thats why you guys are where you are now. you hit homeruns in the draft during the super bowl years and we were able to replace vets about to get paid with young talent. now, their vets are going/be trading but with no one to replace them.

As far as faneca, i agree they should have kept him for another year. For the sole reason that the already have to pay him 5 million dollars no matter what (minus whatever he signs for..so if he signs for 2.5 mil, jets only owe 2.5. which in that case results in 5 mil+ savings). BUT...faneca wasn't "meh" at pass protection, he was flat out bad. He gave up 7 sacks last year, maybe 6, on a team that didn't pass the ball that much overall. most amongst NFL guards. He got to the pro bowl based on reputation alone.I thought his run blocking was good, but looking at some highlights i notice it was mostly when he pulled towards his side of the line. Fact is, he was the weakest link on the line while getting paid the most. All in all, I think you're going to see that he is replaceable.

Washington was completely expendable at this point, he was a great jet but he fucked up by not signing a contract extension last year when the jets offered him one. his agent is a the biggest douchebag in the world...Alvin Keeler or whatever, was trying to get Jones-drew money. Probably fucked up his life majorly.

The jets are going to be disgusting this year, i'm not worried even in the slightest. I don't see how a team is going to throw on them at all, and with 2 solid NT's and a great linebacking core, they won't be able to run either. You're going to see revis, cromartie and wilson out on islands while rex throws the kitchen sink at QBs.

What "egos?"? None of these guys have egos. The vets all want to win a ring and the young guys are all humble. And rex doesn't tolerate that shit for a minute. neither will the locker room. They're going all in for 1 reason. They were 30 minutes away from reaching the super bowl with they team they had, even with a rookie QB. They have a fuckload of guys to sign next year with big paydays and dont know how many they will be able to keep even if they still spend money.
David Harris, Nick Mangold, D'brickashaw, revis...and then the new guys like cromartie, edwards and holmes. It's simply impossible to keep all of them. I guarantee you they'll do everything they can to sign the first 4 though. if they lose even one of those first 4 guys this team will not be the same.

I really wish it was september already.

you literally have no idea what you're talking about. this post is beyond stupid for so many reasons. I love you bro, but talking football with you makes me want to bonk you over the head sometimes.

Your logic is that a back can excel with a pass happy team. And in this case, not only a pass happy team, but a pass happy team that has an incredibly undersized line and horrible run blocking. Ignoring the fact that RB's production are based heavily on rhythm and consistency of carries. If you actually saw san diego last year, the only times they "ran" was because they had to... so they weren't passing literally on every down. Arizona, Indianapolis, Houston, even your Patriots...why is it that all these top ranked pass happy teams had virtually no running game and ranked in the bottom of the league? Hmm...

You also say that the run game is now "weak", despite having the best offensive line in football. Last i checked, Thomas Jones wasnt blazing through small holes and making sharp cuts. He was very good for us for a few years (never fumbled, hard worker, got tough yards) but hes getting old and he has zero versatility. hes a downhill runner with very little burst and breakaway speed, and NO receiving ability. If you had watched even a little bit of greene, he already is a monster. When the jets went on their run towards the end of the season, guess who was getting a bulk of the carries? And guess when the jets started losing control of the AFC championship game last year? When Greene got injured. coincidence...not at all.

The weakest links on our offense were a speedy slot receiver and a back who can be used on 3rd and actually catch. Thats exactly why Holmes and LT are jets.

And the concept of an every down back has pretty much been eradicated from the NFL to keep guys fresh. You can't even name 5 teams right now that use only 1 running back most of the time. So whats your point?

Green was a beast in college and he is now. I don't know who on this planet is going to tell you that thomas jones and a broken legged Washington are somehow better than Greene, LT, and Mcknight. Washington will most likely never be the same player again..that injury was awful and you're talking about the largest bone in the human body which deals with the greatest amount of physical stress, in addition to be directly related to his livelyhood (speed).

*You* could rush for 1000 yards behind the jets offensive line.

yeah, so 07, and 08 really sucked, now we know how "great" Pioli was as our D.O.P.P.
After reading this, I'm glad his style of drafting is gone. Not sayin BB didn't have anything to do with previous drafts but he delegated most of it to Scott. Good luck KC.

BTW Jenkins, a 360lb 30+ y/o ,injury plagued career guy coming off an ACL is no concern?
Jets are the favorites and I fucking love it!

he's 30 right now, and no..it's not a concern. ACL injuries just happen to be very long to rehab, but the concept of the procedure itself is relatively predictable...unlike say, microfracture surgery which is a different beast and a crapshoot. Most people, even pro athletes, regain close to 100% of their mobility from ACL surgery provided they rehab properly. Elway played without an ACL in 1 knee for most of his career LOL. Frank gore(in college), Ronnie brown, mcgahee (in college), mcnabb, brady and a million other people have come back from the injury. and unlike some of those other cases, he just tore his ACL...and not also his MCL or PCL.

And regardless,we have 2 good NT's in him and Pouha. No one mentions Pouha outside jets fan because he isnt a flashy name, but he held down the position big time. So anything Jenkins adds is a bonus. hell, even if it's half a season.
Jenkins got injured in week 7 i think last year. we actually got better statistically as a defense (more so because of the comfort of the system and scheme) but there wasnt a big drop off.

The NFL is so unpredictable, so you really never know what can happen, but i'm excited like i've never been before for a season. I can say it's actually nice to see a team I like get their ass kissed in the media for once. I'm used to my teams being the butt of every joke lately or them getting criticized for every move regardless if it paid off or not. It'll probably make me mad eventually, but for now it feels good. The media has been all over this, and its about time the jets got their suck dicked by ESPN instead of the pats.

*You* could rush for 1000 yards behind the jets offensive line.
you don't agree with my logic. ok, fine. but when you break it down, they let thomas jones walk for LT. LT is washed up and has lost a step. running behind an improved o-line isn't going to change that. i like shonn greene, already said that. maybe washington can't rebound, but i was a big fan of him because of his versatility. i think mcknight is junk, but that's straight bias against USC running backs (who always seem to disappoint.)

It's not logic when the facts and statistics prove otherwise. In regards to heavily oriented passing teams, they tend not to have a good YPC for their backs. Maybe the exception was New Orleans, but Sean Payton was actually pretty dedicated to the run and their line wasn't 1 dimensional.
LT simply didn't fit in with the new scheme. Norv Turner has always been enamored with the aerial attack. Is he the LT of 2006? No, but is he better than a lot of other backs in this league? Yes. and he'll prove it. again, he doesn't have to be the guy. he needs to give them 10, maybe 15 carries max a game, and an option in the passing game on 3rd down. They have so many weapons on offense he doesn't need to carry the load. Braylon edwards, santonio holmes, jerrico cotchery and dustin keller?? and then shone greene as the other back?

There's a reason ochocinco was joking around and tweeted to the Roger Goodell "hey comish, you gotta stop the jets. They're gonna become an All Madden team with <so and so> now!"

You're right, Leon was versatile and he was missed in situations last year as we had no real checkdown option for 3rd and long. Before he was asked to do a lot because we had no one else who could. But we have guys who have replaced him in every one of those roles. KR, 3DB, change of pace back with explosive speed.. and again...who knows how good he's gonna be now. The Leon washington unofficially marriage ended when he got injured shortly after negotiations on a long term deal fell apart. this was in the cards for awhile

These arguments are always interesting.
Especially when people pull quotes from past arguments.

As a Raven fan, we always want to see nothing short of the Steelers, Pats, and Colts getting crushed. Roflberger is one of the few where I would clap if he got injured during a sac as long as it wasn't serious (enough to take him out of the game only).

I respect Peyton and Brady as two of the best to ever play the game which makes it that much better when we beat them. You better believe if I was a QB and saw Sugg's coming in at me, or Ed Reed flying in from the side, I'd hit the deck too so I could continue to play the game. Nothing wrong with smart Quarterbacking.

If you've ever watched the LT/Theismann hit, it doesn't take much for a career to do a complete 180, and these players aren't getting smaller or slower.

This year will be interesting to in the AFC, I think the Jets have the best chance to go all the way based on roster alone. The Ravens, if they can achieve the passing threat they want, and have another stellar season with Ray Rice, will be pretty tough to beat.

I will be interested to see how LB Sergio Kindle and DT Terrence Cody (Mount Cody 6'4" 354lbs) develop.

See I oddly give The Rapist a little credit because he will run, take a hit, and fight for yards...Im glad the others are collecting their pay check and survive long enough to throw the ball away or do a 2 yard check down, just don't get the same respect as someone with the balls to put it on the line to get the extra yards. The rest of the team is getting crushed and scrapping on just about every play, other QBs are fighting for yards and the respect of the team, while Brady and Manning would rather throw it away on 3rd and 2 than get hit....just sayin

It's not their style of play bro, never has, never will be. Rothy is HUGE and has always been a QB who would roll out and run if he had cause he has the size to take on smaller DB's and not get hurt. Like above said, it doesn't take much for someone to dive at your knees and give your career a 180 in the dumps.

2005 draft sucked? Dude you got logan mankins, nick kazcur, james sanders, ellis hobbs and matt cassell. i know this because i looked it up when i was having a debate about recent draft history.

umm.. logan Makins is a pro bowler, you're right he was a good pick. Kazcur is a turnstyle who can't block the freenys and elite pass rushers to save his life and has pretty much lost his job to last years BB "reach" in Sebastion Vollmer (he is SIIIICK)

Sanders is a rotational back up, serviceable, but takes bad angles on some coverage routes

Hobbs? lmao, don't get me started. Although I loved his cocky style, he's just not a 1st or 2nd corner and he wanted to "get paid" like one, hence the reason we said "good luck" and shipped him off to Philly where he was riding the pine most of the season and then got hurt

Cassel was a gamble that worked out decent for the 08' season filling in for TB, but when you have Moss and Welker and the rest of that off. unit, alot of guys would do well.I wish him the best in KC, but IMO he's nothing more than average, thought that then, still think it now.

So in the end, we landed one pro bowler in Mankins, who was also a Mel Kiper "HUGE REACH" for a 1st rounder lololo, and a bunch of avg players who aren't starters anymore for us. (Kazcur is on the way to the bench (good depth)to make room for S. Vollmer.

So Pioli's drafts for 05, 06, 07 and 08 were for the most part a failure.

Just read up on Cody. Looks like he'll make a good run stopper lining up next to Ngata. At age 22 and 6'4" 354, since he started as DT in Alabama, no individual has rushed against Bama for over 100 yards, sounds like just what we need...

So many teams passed on Kindle which made me wonder about his knees. It's not like him or his agent would tell anyone the extent of it which would only further hurt his value. If he's healthy? Fvck me running... Suggs, Lewis, Cody, Ngata and Sergio:worried:

pats release adalius thomas, jets frontrunners to sign him.

i'm so glad he's gone, he was nothing short of a bum. however, i'm not all that keen on him reuniting with rex, especially since he'll only be a complimentary player.

Good, he could possibly back up gholston, I'd let him go anywhere with his piss poor attitude and awful play.
He couldn't even play situational positions or snaps, the guy has no range, speed, or toughness.
What a bust.

He did alright in Baltimore, but yeah random attitude outbursts cost some 15s lol

i love adalius thomas because of this quote alone (from when he, moss and 2 other guys got sent home because they were late due to a snowstorm)

"I mean, I could've been in a ditch," he said. "They really don't give a damn. Hey, as long as you aren't in that meeting, they really don't give a (bleep)."

"There's nothing to apologize about. I wasn't trying to be late. I don't know what to say. You leave home, there are people there, cars sitting in the road, you're sitting there, what are you gonna do? It's not the Jetsons. I can't jump up and fly. What am I supposed to do?"

Yeah, that was funny CW, when he could have taken being sent home like a MAN, but no he had to bitch, bitch, bitch.
He had been BENCHED for 2 weeks prior to that so what does that tell you?
Ray Lewis basically called him girl when he left the Ravens lol
