I think that it has boiled down to this...

Perhaps the special rights that needed to be emloyed earlier have outlived there purpose and now have given the once oppressed race an advantage. (Warik...BFL Chick)

Personally, i thik that special rights weaken a race's motivation to become something in their country. Asians in Canada have been discriminated for a long time, no special rights, but they fill my university and appear to be successful. Natives on the other hand have done dick all. They have everything- free schooling, less taxes, EVERYTHING to be successful but they piss on it.

Creating special rights only creates scapegoats. It only admits there is a problem and if your life sucks than you can blame the caucasians.

But what I'm saying is that the U.S. is a lot of things... IN THEORY. Even the most basic thing we are--democracy--is only in theory. (In actuality, a republic.) I do believe the U.S. is the land of opportunity; I just think that the idea that we're all on a level playing field is crap.

Where I live, you can see this amazing school system to the North. The highest technology, the newest materials, the teachers thrilled to be there. Go 15 minutes South, and you will see a school more like an urban nightmare. Guess what "color" the first school, and then the second.

I hear what you're saying about "special priveleges" actually debilitating the people they were meant to assist. They call it "cradle to the grave." Put someone on welfare or any kind of assistance and it sets in motion a cycle where often THEY NEVER GET OFF.

What I was really saying in this thread: special "rights" do have a place as long as special "wrongs" continue to be committed.
