World's Strongest Man marathon

MicSherry said:
So how do you guys think Ronnie Coleman would do in WSM? I think he would do great in Squat, Deadlift, and Overhead press but I think he wouldn't do as well in other areas! What do you guys think? Mike

i think he would get owned!

How come the U.S . never has a guy win all these guys are from europe... We need a strong man

I posted my thoughts on the Chat board...

You must have just cought the finals. We sent 5 guys this year and none of them made the finals. Hopefully I'll be at Pro Nationals where the top 5 guys make it to the Worlds. I'd love to be at the worlds in the next 5 years.

Everyone trains different. Mostly we lift 2-4x in the week then have a day just for event training.

I'd say that the average Pro Strongman takes around 1gram of test a week and that cycles higher and lower throughout the year. A pro of the past said that he used a gram a day of test with MANY other things to get ready for a contest.

I will be drug tested this year at some point as well as others in the U.S.

Remember that the U.S. gets 5 at the Worlds...I don't think that any other country in the world gets that many and there are a lot of countries. Most strongmen in Europe get full support from their government. Food, room, training halls, trainers, drugs, chemical assistants, etc... While we spend all of our time trying to catch our athletes doing something illegal...they spend their time trying to keep their athletes at the top level.

Also..our best athletes are making 6-8 figures playing in the NFL instead of competing in Strongman making 3-5 figures.

the really screwed Mark Phillipi this year by raising the platform on the stones,I felt so bad for the guy when he was crying during the interview.

it was however good to see Jessen Paulin make it,Ive been watching him move up for a few years now

Ehhh...no offense to Mark...but he actually screwed himself.

He is 6' tall and there were other guys shorter than him that didn't have that problem...

Wow Mark looked much shorter than 6' when doing the stones. I guess there were shorter people who did it better. I still felt sorry for him though, watching that interview.

Also, at least one other guy had the same problem. I don't remember who it was, but the stone kind of rolled back onto his head and dazed him badly; he was wondering around in a circle for awhile, couldn't find the other stones or something.

ESPN2 is airing another marathon now. I didn't see the listings for today otherwise I'd have posted sooner.

Mark looked like he was having problems the whole time. I only saw part of the heat he was in, but saw him get completely tooled by the carry and flip.

Didn't look like the same Mark Phillipi as the year before.:(

I saw the Jesse Marunde pulled out due to an injury, but he didn't specify what happened. Anyone know the specifics on his injury?

He had dropped about 30+ pounds getting ready for Nationals, hurt his back BADLY, and went to Worlds 2 weeks later anyway. He is trying to market himself and make money at this sport...

In September he weighed 270. In December he was at 315...interesting huh?
