Also lol @ comparing a computer with something simple like a microwave, I guess if you have a mac it would be a legit comparison.

I just see a personal computer as another home appliance. I've got no stronger urge to tweak my OS than I have to tweak my microwave.

You should. I have my microwave tweaked to season meats while they're cooking.

Kidding aside, it does come down to expectations. My lenvo tablet just decided to stop talking to windows networks the other day. Turns-out, the driver had been corrupted. I spent mre time screwing with it than I'd spent in the last two years working on macs.

Yeah I suppose there are bound to be issues with an open platform. For that reason I actually can see why some people who need to do something specific and have it always perform the same would prefer a Mac. But still as they are I personally could never use one as my only source of computing. It'd feel like being stuck in a playground (albeit perhaps a nice and orderly one with a few cool toys) while looking out beyond and wondering what it's like outside of the fence.

Well truth be told, I went through all my power computing days but I'm too old for that stuff now. To date myself, my Christmas present in 1980 was a copy of NewDos/80. I'm sure it's still boxed away somewhere beside my first-edition copy of The Peter Norton Programmer's Guide to the IBM-PC.

Some of it may be related to how your ideas about computing evolve over time. It's not an issue of maturity either, but more a function of your underlying computing philosophy.
