seems hard to do in weighlifting
but if you think about it, no nfl coach can run/hit like the players they coach
same with nba/mlb coaches
and pretty much every sport
yet the players still respect and aknowledge the coach knows the game.
so what do you think?

Being smart and knowledgable about lifting does not necessairly mean you have to be big yourself.

Have a look at this video of strong man Mark Felix taking advice from his strength coach who is a 60yr old (or so) small man. But he knows his shit and apairently mark has made a lot of progress this off season since he has been working with his new coach.

On the flip side I've seen larger men giving horrible advice to people at the gym, telling them t do stuff that will seriously get them hurt.

So the answer is I will take advice (or at least listen to it) from anyone if it is given to me. It is up to me to make the decision if that advice is correct or not.

I'll listen to anybody, but I try to weed out the bad from the good. Size or physical appearance has very little to do with knowledge. It always shocks that bodybuilders at my gym that some big fat powerlifter knows more about what they are doing than they do.LOL

Cheers,

I think that it is a good idea.

Just because someone is smaller or weaker doesn't mean that they haven't made significant gains.

In so many ways, the biggest and the strongest, for example, pro BBers or strongmen, are the worst to take advice from as they have freaky genetics and just about bloody anything will work on them.

Those that have had to work hard for their strength or muscle will have learned a lot more and often be more knowledgeable about training and diet.

I dont agree with your first line you need to understand that most of the coaches use to be players at one point. Now that we said that take a look at what era they played in most are from the early 70's of football maybe some young ones are 80 and they did not have the equipment/techniques that players nowadays have but these coaches at one point could hit/run like players of now.As a former high school football player i knew that my coaches program was the best for me. My coaches when i played where young and they did the drills with us which made it more fun. Its always good hitting the person making you do 5 miles.

People do it all the time on the AAS forum :o

Personally, no as it's usually the kind of people who post 'ur doing it rong!' on Ronnie coleman or Mendelsons youtube vids..

but if I had a coach like the old fella in that vid of course.
