Wild Meat

Hey,

Does anyone eat wild meat as a source of protien, such as deer? Deer is usually leaner than other meats and contains a lot of vitamins. Just curious as i usually have free access to deer meat each year as my father is a hunter. Anyone one have any opinions from a nutritional standpoint. Of course it is not good to eat to much red meat but in moderation as a alternate source protien.

Three men go deer hunting, two are smart, and one is dumb. The first smart one goes out and 2 hours later comes back with a deer. The other two ask how he did it, and he said, "I found the tracks, I followed the tracks, I found the deer, I killed the deer."So the other smart one goes out, and 1 hour later he comes back with a deer. They ask how he did it. He said " I found the tracks, I followed the tracks, I found the deer, I killed the deer."So the dumb hunter goes out, and 2 hours later, he comes back beaten and bruised. The other 2 asked what happened. He said "I found the tracks, I followed the tracks, I got hit by a train."

Yea but i usually eat it just like it is. I dont get it proccessd. Its lean but alot of people mixit with beef to addflavor and take out the wilderness of the deer

If I don't kill it I don't eat it as far as red meat is concerned. I typically put 250# of lean venison in my freezer each year.

Geez, 250 unprocessed?? Send some of that my way med!! :chomp:

Right on. I love deer meat also and have eaten it since a child. Also moose, rabbit, partridge, duck and goose. I bet partridge is very good for you. It is so lean and the animal mostly eats tree buds and other vegetation. Partridge meat looks almost identical to chicken when cooked in strips. Very good in a stir fry but never check the protien content although i am sure it is high. I will definately be eating some deer this year one my cycle for some extra protien. I also make lean sausages with deer meat it is very tasty and heatlhy. Good to see there are some other people who enjoy the wild meats.

I share a lot of jerky and sausage. Just like the produce from my garden half the pleasure is sharing it. This will be my first winter on these boards.....I send alot of stuff to my bro's on my motorcycle boards........be patient and there will probably be venison coming your way....only problem is we admit to things we don't want others to know here and thus it is tough to share addresses! I may have to do it through hushmail and remailers! :artist:
