why foam pads under the bar

many people at my school's weight room use those for squating. They must have no shoulder muscles what-so-ever.

i mean for bench, shoulder press, c. crossovers , anything.
LOL - squats i dont know if he does them

If you mean on Squats bro, I can't see how dudes do it that way either. Too much possibility of slippage, especially if you go with a low bar placement. I can't use those shoulder horns either. In my opinion, they are rather dangerous, unless you are just going light, in which case I see even more reason to not use them, due to lack of weight.

Dunno. I have to have the bar raw bro. I cant use gloves either.

I'm with ya on that. My wife complains about my hands being so rough, but I can't bring myself to wear gloves. I like to feel the bar.

Ha, I always say those pads are for wusses who have no traps. It's too funny to see those. Also, I hear they contort you spine and make your shoulders not parrallel to the bar. Don't know if that's true or not, but hearing that makes me turn away from those.

Hehehe.....I can't go back to wearing gloves either. There's something about the way the knurls feel in your hand. It makes me feel good just thinking about it. :p

In my gym the little dudes tape the foam pad to the Squat bar and they get pissed at me when I rip it off. I think its dangerous and makes it easy for the bar to rotate or slip.
