why are men so picky about women's looks

Why do women spend so much on hair, makeup, clothes, shoes, fake boobs, fake nails, lipo, gossip, etc.?

Vanity.

Men are genetically engineered as animals to be attracted to a certain type.

Women perpetuate that ideal.

Not picking on you RR, but why did you post nude pics on a public forum?

Also, who says I am not a great catch?

I believe you're right, that culture including most women perpetuate that ideal. It's too bad that men come to expect such high standards from women. As if we don't have enough on our plates. Juggling jobs that typically make less then men.....always being judged by how attractive we are whenever we date and by many men in general just in passing....and someone retaining out self respect.
I just don't understand why the same women, who is stared at in doctors waitings rooms or passing through Walmart, who has to woory about covering up more than most because she will be fantasized about if she's wearing white shorts.....can be judged as "not that hot" etc it doesn't make sence!

Im more curious as to how any adult woman could have made it through life without realzie this is how men arewired through hundreds of thousands of years of evolution and realized complaining about it isnt going to change it???

Just like us men have to tolerate playing emotional backgammon with you women to keep you interested.. you have to tolerate us being visual creatures who expect women to look like women and not Ellen Degeneres clones.. (not that you do.. I dont have a clue what you like like OP)
 
From what I've seen their is alot of men that aren't picky!!! I am picky and feel that if I am going to do my best to look good my women can do the same and usually my women are alot better looking than me. I'm not a pretty boy and not one that girls see and go wow I got to have him. They usually have to talk to me for awhile and get to know me before they fall for me.

sometimes a woman can be a little unattractive.. but take care of herself so well, and just have that certain sexy walk, or look or even nice proportions that speak to a mans baser instincts.

I have seen some very plain looking woman.. who were just hot as fuck. Best part is they had no idea...
 
I find there isn't much true beauty anymore. All you see is a bunch of girls with tons of make-up on, fake nails, fake boobs, and distorted personalities.(That's where true beauty is) I blame hollywood and media. A great deal of the USA population of women are like this. Also, what's wrong with having standards? Don't you have a standard for what kind of man you like concerning looks?

Never. I deserve better. If you want to lower your standards go ahead. I haven't had any problems getting women. I'm young, in shape, make good amount of money for my age, I got the latino thing going for me, and I'm funny as hell.

On a serious note, the ideal to lower your standards / expectation seems to be a decent way to be happier based on the reports that I've read.

On a non-serious note, men are picky because they know that hookers are cheaper, faster to the sex, and don't stay the night.

I don't plan to settle anytime soon. The rate at which any relationship last is joke. To much to lose as being a man. It's gonna take one hell of a speacial women to sway me.

I have dated some very beautiful women that guys would look at us and go what is she doing with him but I always fall for women that aren't as beautiful as them on the outside but just have something about them that makes me get that feeling in my stomach.

depends on the type of picky. Is someone picky over superficial shallow reasons or are they picky about someone's internal makeup??? Makes a big difference in my book.

I never used to do my nails, wear makeup or have my hair done for years and years.

I do know, but it is not out of vanity, it is more about me loving myself.

To say that makeup is just about vanity is a bit narrow, it is expected in the professional world, sort of like wearing a nice suit.



Also, having my nails done is so much easier to keep them looking good, and I am quite lazy when it comes to having to do girlie maintainance.

Women often (not always) percieve that men are pickier than they really are. My gf always asks which of the two ______ I like more. I could care less. She looks great in any or out of any, but she never can get that. :(

lol my girlfriend asked me to tell her when she wears clothes that dont look good on her or make her look fat as she calls it...i told her this one shirt she was wearing one time wasnt very flattering and she started crying lol

There emontional creatures. Set them apart from us man. Got to make them feel like there wanted, loved, put them in good spirts, and taking care of. You can't just say anything to them or act with them the way you do around men. Some women are worse then others.

Agree

I look for confidence when I was looking for a mate which I have found. When I met my wife, she was vary confident in her self. She dressed nice, cared about her self, ate good, always wanted to look pretty. I don't have to always hear her cry about how fat and ugly she is. Confidence is a huge turn on for me. I love it when my wife knows she looks good, it makes a lot of fun for the relationship. I also make sure she hears it from me too, that I think she looks dynomite. There are a lot of woman who may not have celebrity looks, but if they just took care of them selves they would look great.

But I don't know why you would say that woman have to deal with us the way we are. I do the same thing for my wife. I don't just look like a slob and expect her to dress up all the time, (Even though I never expect her to dress up, she just does it.) But it goes both ways with us.

Thanks for asking... honestly, I have been better but I've also been worse.

I think I slept like a minute and a half. Have to get up in like 2 hours and go down to the courthouse so I can see my kids for 2 hours. :( I haven't seen my one daughter in over two years... truth is, I am afraid she won't even want to hug me or show up for that matter... I HATE the idea that anyone has to force the child to show up but then again, she will have to face me and look at me knowing full well that it was her lie that caused all of this latest round of ugliness. I mean, it isn't entirely her fault as she was just an abused child herself, but she lied ugly lies... I will forgive her, she just needs to look at me. She doesn't even need to say that she is sorry.... but I doubt I will even get that. I mean how does a near 16 year old emotionally handle such a situation?

now having said that, most men I meet (including my guy) love the fake blonde, big boobed airheads, but only for one thing. For a relationship, they prefer women with depth and personanilty.

my wife has a face like an angel. . .i'm a sucker for a pretty face. . .we had no connections when i met her. . .without her face, i'm sure i wouldn't even have noticed her. . .but, i've dated women in the past that i knew on a friendly basis for a while before we started dating. . .some of them weren't beauty queens but there was something(s) about each of them that i found extremely attractive as i got to know them better. . .yes. . .i am superficial. . .but that does not mean that i am totally lacking in the depth department. . .
