perhaps it only seems that way b/c there is a greater concentration of people on the east coast, compared to the rest of the USA.

peeps here in the south do seem to be more open and welcoming of strangers.

That's true. And the more people there are squeezed into one space, the more people tend to be territorial. For instance, on the Metro, instead of people crowding in to make more room, they usually stake out a space and woe is he who tries to take up some of that space.

It's also the reason why nobody will make eye contact on the subway. Nobody wants to "get personal" with even the slightest glance or look.

Hey NB, I know you're not hatin' on Montgomery County though, 'cos I just moved there. It is really nice and urban (at least in Rockville).

Any whoever said EYEPEE is peaceful--what about the ongoing feud with Johnny Wang? He's as violent as they come.
