The first tough decision may be to not pay SS benefits to those that are over a certain income bracket or have over a specific amount of savings at retirement.

Even though they paid in the money over the years..

Any numbers on % of 65+ers having enough savings to live off of,
vs those that do not, and rely on SS, family or other means ?

Wait a second. Do you think is fair to not give benefits to somebody because made more money in his life? Don't you think if he made more money was only with his effort and intelligence? his own abilities? This is wrong. This is 100% against our system. I smell communism. Some people is viewing the problem from the wrong direction. In that case, you need to educate young people on how to invest money and how to manage their own money. That way, you can ensure they will produce more money at the end for their own future. But cut benefits to the people who moved the country and give benefits to people that was waiting to live from the govenrment, that's wrong. That's similar to a European or a Canadian Socialism.

If I am single, don't I get taxed for public education even though I have
no children receiving said benefits and therfore do not need said benefits ?

I never have called the police of fire department, yet I am taxed to pay for this service I do not use..

Sure. I know I did. But I also had some help from existing infrastructure and would accept limited taxes to pay for this. I have ben successful. I would not be if we didn't have roads, or cops, or water, etc. So I can live with some taxes. I reject all the entitlements.

This is wrong. This is 100% against our system.

I don't know about Miami, but we've had a heavy progressive income tax for almost 100 years in this country. THAT is "our" system. The American dream has been hijackedby politicans to buy votes from old people, the classic tyranny of the majority that democracy always defaults to and that our founders tried to avert by creating an elitist system of government.

Y_lifter, you're right. In those certain cases the system could be reformed. And of course it has to be a lot of other cases. So at the end it'd be something more like reducing and increasing benefits.
