Why Are 500,000 Veterans Homeless This Year?

Iraq was strategic. It still is.

Unrest grows in the region. The strategy is working.

I like tennis balls.

I don't like your view on this Matt but I respect it because you are honest and have a clue. I have no respect for these half-wits that still think Iraq was about defending American borders. Get real.

The real question in my mind is since the remainder of those 500,000 mentioned
veterens get the same benefits, why are they successful and not homeless ?

It is not the goverments fault that you failed to prepare for life financially regardless of whether you are a Sr citizen or a GI coming back into the real world.

No more than it is the goverments fault that you failed to deal with societies unfairness, and continued the cycle of poverty your parents left you in..

Exactly. You got fucked? Welcome to the real world. Now do something about it.

Hell Matt .. California is a Socialist state. People pretend they own their house because their name is on a loan they cant afford and they pay TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars a year for no bussing, horrible schools, horrible infrastructure, socialized medicine for the poor.

OWNING your home does not mean owing 600k to the bank and having 1K in principle.

Until we shut down abotu 50% of what the government does.. we live in a psuedo captialist state.. pretending we have a choice when we pay extraodinary amounts for services.. that in a socialist state would be free.

We are already taxed at a socialist rate.. but because WE have to drive the check down to DMV, the courthouse, the school.. whatever.. we are actually stuid enough to think we have a choice.

None of us have a choice. Unless you want to end up on the pissy side of the judicial system.. next thing you know your name inos the fint page for tax evasion and they mysteriusly find child pron on your PC.(LOL seems like they ALWASY find child porn on their PC.. good way to convince all the dumb fuck housewives and retirees they MUST be guuilty... "gee Ethel he is a child molester he MUST be guilty of something")

Bingo.

tell some people in Dc and we can throw about 1.3 trillion back into the economy.

Then the private sector might develop alternate fuels and our troops can come home.

Yay.

I like the economy,

I am not referring to just Iraq or Afghanistan. We have been in plenty of wars some more just than others, but in the end the US Veteran gets screwed and his/her family gets screwed even more. Why in the hell does some dick head sitting in an ivory tower, making deals that trash the lower economic class rate to have his family paid millions of dollars upon his death using mine/yours tax dollars? I don't get it. What the f_ _ _k did he do? Why is his wife and family more important than mine? He was so freakin rich why didn't he have a life insurance policy on his ass worth several million? I don't make jack and I still have life insurance that will take care of my family the rest of their lives if I die today.

Unfortunately all those people you are writing off paid a lot of money into the system to ensure they would have an income after they retired. I'm all for doing away with the system but you can't just cut it off like that.

Anyway, you've already thrown away $200 billion plus that could have been used to develop alternative energy so what's a little more? ;)

Yep, and my army recruiter told me I would have milk and cookies at Ranger training.

The government lies.

Next issue?

I'm not putting 10-15% of my salary into 401K stock funds because
I trust Social Security being there for me to keep me comfortable.

If I get it, great, if not, I'm as prepared as I can be..

I could currently afford bigger houses and cars and more lavish vacations than I take. But I also am a realist and know that eventually I won't have this income.

Damn straight but would you have had the knowledge or inclination to do that 20 or 30 years ago? Of course not.

The only solution I see is that a cutoff point will have to be established at some point.
