Also whats a good guesstimate on the cost for a painting company to come in and paint my entire 1st and 2nd floor? I have the guy coming in the morning to give me an estimate, I just dont want to faint when he quoted me a price. I want to be mentally prepared. I hate spending money.

$1500 - $2000? How big is the house? How many rooms? Any vaulted ceilings? Is there a lot of masking to do? Just get 3-4 estimates and see who you get the best feel for. Can any friends or neighbors recommend any painters who did good work for them?

I do love painting, but i won't do electrical.
I had to hire someone to paint part of the inside of my house though. It's a wall over the stairs that's 2 stories high.

smuf, I don't know how big your house is or what the job entails, but 2 floors... i'm going to guess around $5,000

Yeah I am thinking anywhere between $1k-$2k. I would try to paint most yourself too if you are really concerned about the price. Maybe just hire someone to do the hard parts. I painted mine last week, but I couldn't finish it all. I will have to call someone in because part of my walls that are off my stairs are too damn high!! Right now I have half paints walls and it looks cute. I did 90% of the work myself so hopefully it doesn't cost much.

Do as much as you can then hire! You will save a lot.

My house is 3200sq ft. and it cost me 9 grand. So it looks like 30 cents a sqft. is a close number to use. Mine was also new construction so there was less taping off than if you have carpet and cabinets in.

My house isnt big. Its a 3 story townhome and Im looking at the entry level/ground level which is just the entry way and a small hallway, up the staircase, then then 2nd level which consists of the living room and dining room and a hallway and potentially up the 2nd staircase. my kitchen is not included because it was just remodeled less than 2 yrs ago. the color on the walls right now is the painters white. there has never been color on these walls as far as I can see.
