I had a similar situation. Wanted to by a new C.C to replace a Kimber 1911. Great gun. Butter. But not ideal for the discrete sheep dog.
My choice was the G27. LOVE that thing. It took some practice because of the shortened grip. (short even with the extension, which I use) But after some time at the range I can 4" group 9 rounds at 20yds in 12sec. Not bad for hose jocky.
The one thing I did have to do to gain some more feel and perform better at the range was to upgrade the trigger pull. I believe it is stock at 4lbs. I upgraded to around 2.5lb pull. Helped a ton. Purchased some extended mags at a few gun shows. And was lucky enough to find a supply of Black Talons. Won't go anywhere except to work without it.
