If your gun was flaming pink, would you still carry it? Ask yourself that question and answer it honestly. If your answer is no, then you really don't need to carry it.

I'm not trying to give you guys a hard time. I was a 2nd amendment fanatic once myself. You just have to truly understand what you're dealing with. If you think you'll use it to to defend yourself in some bar fight, think again. You shoot someone in a bar fight and you will likely be convicted. Even shooting an intruder in your home doesn't mean you won't get convicted.

Sometimes it's just more sensible to let someone steal your wallet or to run away from a threat.

CC permit holders are not allowed to carry in a bar, at least not in my state. If someone breaks into my home, they are there to steal, rape or kill. I have a family and they are worth defending, being convicted will not be a factor when I am defending myself and family in my own home. I don't know where you live, but I seriously doubt that any jury in my state would convict me for shooting someone who is invading my home. Theodore Roosevelt once said "No greater wrong can ever be done than to put a good man at the mercy of the bad, while telling him not to defend himself or his fellows; in no way can the success of evil be made surer or quicker". Makes sense to me.

Agreed. If you have a gun at a bar, you're looking for lots of trouble. Even if it were legal to carry in a bar, it would be udderly irresponsible for any smart gun owner to do so. I don't leave my house without my Kahr PM9. I also don't worry about a conviction for wasting someone breaking into my house. If someone enters my house illegally, they have already scaled my 6' fence which surrounds my property. They aren't lost or accidentally at the wrong house.

As for people that don't want to carry or own guns, I respect them. A gun is an extreme responsibility. A slight movement of your trigger finger can end someone's life. You live with that the rest of your life. I don't blame people for not wanting that responsibility. My only problem is with the people who don't own/want guns and also want to infringe on my rights to do so.

During the time I had mine I never needed it. However I dropped my piece at a friend's house and it fired. It blew up a table and bounced up through the roof. My friend and his father who owned the house were not happy about that incident. It also scared the piss out of their dog and it has been on Prozac ever since.

But seriously, consider your reasons for wanting to carry a weapon. If you hang out at places where trouble is likely to occur, find another place to hang out. You don't ever want to be in a situation where you use that weapon because even if you do defend yourself you will still likely have legal problems.

EXACTLY! People usually find their own trouble. They know it's not the best place to go to but they go there anyway.

I had mine while I was a pizza delivery driver. Unfortunately, pizza drivers are frequent targets for thugs. I'm still not sure it would have ever helped as the thugs always have the upper hand since they are making the first move.

Unfortunately every pizza driver I've heard of defending themselves with a gun gets fired. It's total bullshit, but it violates the above point about not going to places where there might be trouble. Then again, I rather defend myself and get fired than be dead/injured. Thugs in a pizza delivery attack have a huge upper hand since they are ready to ambush you. But, if you listen to your instincts and know something isn't right, you can get out of the situation. It's scary though.

I have my handgun with me in my truck everywhere I go, however I don't have my CCW yet. I finally found a place that has regular handgun courses for the CCW that I can fit into my schedule.
Why do I have a gun in my truck? I travel a lot for work and would rather have one and not need it than need one and not have it. Besides, I shoot for stress relief and fun when I have time.
