who here does dips?

i was in the middle of dip's today when one of my friends shows up and said i must be crazy for doing them, because i will get "mega-sore" tomorrow. he then went on to say that he's never seen anyone actually do them and that he's afraid of them. i just laughed and said "you will learn young grasshopper". but he did bring up a good point, i've only ever seen 2 other people at my gym do them. i'll admit it's mostly a laid back gym but still... how many of you do dips?

I do dips. Bench dips, machine dips, regular dips. It's good for tris and chest. Great exercise for tris, easy on the elbows.

used to, its good for me only if I have time to do 2 exercises ( inlcine press and dips)

but I usually stay aways from them since flys give me more for the pecs

you're friends a tool. try hanging 100lbs off your waste and do the dips. that's a power movement, period, bodyweight plus added, close 300lbs you're dipping with. I'd be afraid of someone who could do that. then again, i'm smart enough to be afraid of the 170lb mma fighter that'll knock my ass out if I'm not ready.

I'm a fan, more and more I am into body weight excersizes, but I train a lot more for wrestling than lifting these days. I think body weight excersizes are safer and easier on the joints, at least they are for my body, I do pullups, pushups and dips quite often.

i do weighted dips too but only strapped with 44lb, right after my chest workout i go to dips to start my tri workout.
it does hurt the fuck out of your tris and outer upper chest!! which is a good thing :)

Just added them on chest and tris day a few weeks ago. I also dropped incline, I work my shoulders enough the day before.

i do dips regularly... weighted dips i got with 100lbs with weight belt.. and if your friend has that oppinion then set up the weight belt for him amd tell him to get at it and stop bein a pussy. trully dips are a great exercise.

Huge fan of dips, great builders for triceps, lower chest as mentioned above... similar situation to you, don't see many people doing them at my gym (which is also no Muscle Beach)

yeah i dip. i dont have a belt i can tie weight to a my urrent (hotel) gym, so i o hem with bodyweight only. after about 20 reps my housemae (gym newbie) came out with the comment "man. you look like youre shagging when you do that"

bastard. i fell off the dip bars and nearly hurt my shoulder

dips are great, espeially if you take the time to get your lean right

Ya bro I wrestled for about 13 years and another good body exercise is superman pushups. Where you stand vertical on ur hands with ur heels against the wall for balance then do basically a vertical pushup. I would always go til my forehead touched the mat and back up. I also did and still do dips regularly. There is a machine that lets you put weight around you waist and dip at my gym.

Dips/weighted dips are part of my routine

I hit them about every 3rd or 4th workout. Over the years I've occasionally made them a staple for a couple of months at a time when I feel I need to change things up. They're easier on my shoulders than constant presses, too, which is becoming more important as I age.

My shoulders and elbows are killing me now, so dips are done carefully.

I do weighted dips on my chest/triceps days. I don't really get that sore but if even you did (as long as it's muscle soreness and not joint) it's not like that is a reason not to do dips.
