Who has a pet cat?

Anyways, I was reading up on them, and found out they are pretty interesting creatures-

CATS - Cat Facts

I have a cat, he brings shit home half eaten and stuff.
Like this rabbit she ate the head off of.

I have six of 'em and that is a list of cool factoids. Confirms some behavioral stuff I suspected (particularly the bit about them not thinking of themselves as tiny humans but as us like oversized kittens, their long memories and their brains being more like ours than like dogs).

Like MM, I have 6. The last 2 were fosters, but they never left and at this point, they are staying. My cats are the coolest and have the best characters.

I have a cat that fetches balls. Its really cool. Mine are strictly inside kitties and when my grey kitty escaped one night, i thought i would die. We were all so sad that he was gone. After a few weeks i thought for sure we'd never see him again. Thrn finally after 3 weeks, he was found running into a neighbors garage. I was so happy to have my kitty back. I cried

I don't really like cats as pets, as I'm allergic to the hair, and I just like dogs better. But my wife likes cats, and I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said I think we have 30+. I have no clue. But we go through 40 lbs/week of cat food.

I have a Fucking zoo over here.

DrOiD BioNiC EF App!

I challenge you on that.... 30+ cats, 9 dogs (7 of them in our bed every night), 3 horses, and believe it or not, when I met my wife in '06, she had a goat in the house, and a 10' python. Now at least there are only cats & dogs in the house, but she is always finding something outside that needs help. Even a weasel and a skunk were with us temporarily. Now I'm worried because a friend of hers, has an emu that isn't getting along at her house

Actually, you're allergic to their saliva and dander. Which is a concept I actually find more revolting, come to think about it ...

An aside, I thought I had too many critters when I had ferrets, rats, hamsters, cats, dogs, mice, a dormouse and a hedgehog. Damn, dude, y'all win :worried:

My cats aren't permitted in the bedroom at night except under special circumstances (illness). I'd never sleep if they were in the room.

Do barn cats count? I have 4 that keep the pest out of my feed room. 2 Tom's and 2 spayed females.

grew up with siamese and will own again soon. Actually looking into getting one of those monster hybrid breeds or maine coons which are ginormous. I wanna put those on a leash and watch dogs shit themselves when I take it for a walk. I want a rottie or a dobbie too but those are too large for this snooty little condo association which is why i'm out as soon as school is up.

Are you thinking of a Pixiebob (the largest of the hybrid domestic cats)? I have heard some people say they generally do not do well with regular domestic cats, others who are selling them say otherwise. They are very doglike, will follow you around the house, take to the leash easily and even fetch. Bengals, which are probably among the largest "regular" cats, also leash train pretty well, they're highly active and generally not what you'd call a "lap kitty." They loooooove being up high. Both breeds are pretty cool.

Clyde, the little kitten in my avatar, isn't a kitten anymore, he's seventeen years old.

I used to have a cornish rex....some asshole stole her

I even know who the asshole is and she denied it...ya know...cuz its a totally common cat...

pixiebob? never heard..but i will look it up now. Maybe I should just stick to siamese, i dunno. I don't want a purebred cause they are like a $1000...but if i could snag one with off colors who will never be a show cat then I will. I'll be holding off on the dogs till I get a place out in the country a bit...I'm not one of those people that justifies to themselves keeping a large breed in a condo/apt, and i couldn't get that large a dog here anyway. I'd prefer to get the cats and the dogs at the same time so they grow up together.

Some large breeds do well in condo/apt if u walk them daily and give them kongs

You can google Pixie-bobs yourself, they have the potential to be quite large.

Your best bet is to find a breeder if you want a purebred and aren't interested in show/breeding quality, beats pet stores by a mile, added bonus, you meet the parents and can see how (if) the kittens are handled from a young age. The more socialized a kitten is the better companion animal it will be. Cat breeders usually end up with a surplus of "ordinary kittens" that they'll dump off at pet stores for bupkiss.

And yes, getting kittens/puppies young and raising them together is the way to go. Especially true if you want multiple cats. Cats that grow up with other cats are fine but honestly, if they have no exposure to another cat from the time they're taken away from mom until, say, four or more months they usually never really get to like each other, neutered or not (females are really guilty of this. After more than eight years NONE of my girls like each, suspicious tolerance is the best I get).

Some crazy broad down the street keeps stealing our cat, then we have to play some stupid with her to get the damn cat back. It really pisses me off.
And our cat that ate the head off the rabbit is a Bengal...

After we found the dead the rabbit by the slider I told my daughters "looks like there is not going to be an easter this year.

niggles what the shit is a kong?
God's gift to pet woners, it's a cilinder type of toy that is almost impossible to destroy, you put a treat or hotdog or PB or whatever in the middle and they'll spend hours playing with it and getting it out.

True. My Neapolitan mastiff carried bricks with her mouth and flung a 31" truck tire around like it was nothing, but I still have her Kong in pretty good condition.

So true. My 9 month Italian mastiff has destroyed every "indestructible" toy out there. Even the ones made out of fire hoses. She just chewed through a tire the other week. But the flipping kong is nearly unscathed. Worth every bit of the $15 I paid for it.

Cane Corso?

ahhh ic, torment the thing into exhaustion so it shuts the fuck up and goes to sleep when you do. Nice i will have to get one of these.

I am fucking rolling here....what the shit could they possibly be suspicious of each other for? :lmao:

Cats are solitary, territorial, nocturnal predators. If there's another animal in their territory, they're not real happy about it.
