Are you thinking of a Pixiebob (the largest of the hybrid domestic cats)? I have heard some people say they generally do not do well with regular domestic cats, others who are selling them say otherwise. They are very doglike, will follow you around the house, take to the leash easily and even fetch. Bengals, which are probably among the largest "regular" cats, also leash train pretty well, they're highly active and generally not what you'd call a "lap kitty." They loooooove being up high. Both breeds are pretty cool.

pixiebob? never heard..but i will look it up now. Maybe I should just stick to siamese, i dunno. I don't want a purebred cause they are like a $1000...but if i could snag one with off colors who will never be a show cat then I will. I'll be holding off on the dogs till I get a place out in the country a bit...I'm not one of those people that justifies to themselves keeping a large breed in a condo/apt, and i couldn't get that large a dog here anyway. I'd prefer to get the cats and the dogs at the same time so they grow up together.

Some large breeds do well in condo/apt if u walk them daily and give them kongs

You can google Pixie-bobs yourself, they have the potential to be quite large.

Your best bet is to find a breeder if you want a purebred and aren't interested in show/breeding quality, beats pet stores by a mile, added bonus, you meet the parents and can see how (if) the kittens are handled from a young age. The more socialized a kitten is the better companion animal it will be. Cat breeders usually end up with a surplus of "ordinary kittens" that they'll dump off at pet stores for bupkiss.

And yes, getting kittens/puppies young and raising them together is the way to go. Especially true if you want multiple cats. Cats that grow up with other cats are fine but honestly, if they have no exposure to another cat from the time they're taken away from mom until, say, four or more months they usually never really get to like each other, neutered or not (females are really guilty of this. After more than eight years NONE of my girls like each, suspicious tolerance is the best I get).
