Which is my more impressive lift?

Not to hijack, but Illuminati- I measure hand spacing by putting my hands whereever on the bar they make my forearms perpindicular to the ground when the bar is on my chest. I heard this was best for energy transfer...? For me, that makes my middle fingers on the rings.

Have you, or anybody else, heard/read about the perpindicular forearm thingy?

you probably read that somewhere in a fitness magazine. there really is no science as to where you arms should be in relation to the bottom of the lift.
if you are trying to get a max lift, just remember that a wider grip makes for less distance for the bar to travel. And we all know that a max effort on any lift can come down to those last few inches (or half inch).
with a narrow grip, you are really stressing the tri's and front delts. widen out the grip, and your lats and chest come into play more.
you said your middle finger is on the rings. that is a good enough distance. maybe you could try moving it to your index finger on the ring, see how that feels, and if you are comfortable with it.

Yes, in Starting Strength.

Like he said in the previous post, Illuminati is giving you relevant advice in the context of this thread - maximizing the amount of weight you can handle. The analogous advice for squatting would be to take a wide stance and "sit back" to just below parallel (i.e. do a PL squat rather than an Oly/"athletic" squat). For purposes other than a maximum lift, you should probably continue to use the more general/functional style (in other words, the narrower one that you described).

I would say your bench is better. That is a great accomplishment. I remember when I finally achieved that a few months ago. Hopefully before december my bench will be 400lbs. I have done shoulder presses with 100lb dumbbells for two reps that's it. Good job and keep benching.

My stats:18 yrs. old
Bench: 370
DL:500
Clean:300
Squat:580

DL of 500 and a squat of 580?

you need to go lower on your squats. :D

good job though, keep working hard kiddo!

I guess I would say I am mostly on the natural side of strength. All I do is take vitamins and an occasional protein shake, and that's it. I am a 310 lb. defensive lineman, heavyweight wrestler, and shot put/discus thrower. The weight room is my 2nd home. My bench needs help, and I have also been doing lighter weight (300lbs.) with more reps on squat and doing full instead of parallel squats. I've bent the bar on the weight room with everything including my 500lb. shrugs.

My stats:18 yrs. old
Bench: 370 (hit plateau and stuck)
DL:500
Clean:300
Squat:580 (soon to be 600)
