I was just watching Larry the Cable Guy. Funny. I can't remember where he is from but deff. not from Missouri. I know people really talk like that. I bet he would think I sound funny if he heard me speak. My favrite is Brooklyn. That's how my daddy talks. When I go to California, they sound just like people from Missouri(imo). I like to listen to people from Georgia. They sound sweet. :)

larry the cable guy sucks at life

but thats an interesting point

my new york accent comes out when i say coffee, drawer(i say draw), awesome
and a few other words. and i'm loud, so yeah, i sound like i'm from the northeast.
tone is kinda neutral though

i haven't picked up this terrible miami accent, thank god. any girl with that accent automatically sounds ghetto no matter what

southern accents, i feel kinda the same way. you could be really intelligent and you still sound stupid

hey now.....:FRlol: :artist:

I have a generally neutral accent...but people in NY always pick up a mild southern twang. When I drink it tends to get a little thicker, and when I am in NC it gets a bit thicker as well. It's never the classic heavy deep south southern accent though. Eastern NC has it's own softer version of the southern drawl.

NY

Only some words and if I'm ranting about something - so no, not really - but certainly a Northeast flavor like calveless already stated.

LOL @ Calveless

Watch, wash, coffee and over here..

:D

Yep, me too.

Agreed.

Ever talk to Bunny?
She has the sweetest yet still strong voice I have ever heard.

calveless wonder said:

My dad(from NY) says tons of things like that. Especially numbers. ESPECIALLY three or four. And bandana. And tarantula. COFFEE is a big one.
Or HEY, U! I heard that tons when I tried to run upstairs when he was yelling at me about something. geeez. And SO LOUD!

REALLY!?!??!??!!!! I have never heard anyone from Kansas sound like that. Wait..... maybe some from the boonies way out, maybe.

Larry is from Florida, got his start on a radio show down there.

I have the bland non-existent western thing since I'm from Colorado. The only thing we tend to do is over ennunciate our words.

Not even close. We basically have no accent, everyone I've met in MO has a smooth southern thing going on, although down around Joplin it gets pretty thick.

Born and raised in Seattle, lived in San Diego for a year and they talk just like I do, which to me sounds normal. Lived in Sun Valley for a year also, they too talk the same, how far east do you have to go before you hear some change in accents? I love a southern girls, the accent is awesome. My mom’s side of the family is from Alabama, so my grandma has a very heavy southern accent. When I was in Oklahoma (Tulsa) a few years ago, the talk just like west coasters, I thought it was more Southern but was surprised.

Really? I have never been to Joplin or the other smaller places here. Everyone I know from Colorado sounds like me.
Maybe all small towns sound southern? Hell, I don't know. When I miss Georgia, I will stop by Joplin and see if I get the same feel.

You start picking it up in Kansas/Oklahoma. Depends on where you are in OK though. Once you get down into Texas it also depends on where you are.

The thing here is almost no one you run into seems to be a native Coloradoan. We get lots of people from Texas, Kansas, Nebraska that all have a close approximation to the Missouri thing.

Yea, they sound WAY different in Texas and Oklahoma. I guess I think Overland Park and Kansas City when I think of Kansas. The small towns do sound kinda southern now that I think about it...

That's our closest place to go if we wanna ski.

I used to have a very distinct accent. Sort of a mix between boston and new york. Lost it when I went to college in baltimore cause I became so aware of it, thanks to all my buddies who forced me to repeat words like "beer" and "park" over and over for their amusement.

It still comes out at times, for sure when I'm home and whenever I get heated or very into a story I'm telling. When I'm on the West coast, sometimes people assume I'm from ny, mostly cause of the italian thing and the hints of east coast accent I leave behind in a conversation. I had some girl this past weekend in Phoenix calling me "new york" every time she saw me.

Silly people.

I picked up an Oklahoma accent during BCT and AIT but lost it as quickly as I could. :worried: My ex-wife speaks fluent Spanish and when we went on vacation, she would pick up the local accent within days. My Spanish sucks and in Acapulco people assumed we were residents until they asked me a question and I spoke in my heavy gringo accent. :)

I'd call it an "Ozarks" accent...

I was born in Arkansas, but both of my parents were from Oklahoma, and my babysitter was from NY and CA*. So I think I escaped with a sort of generic middle-America accent.

Mostly NY, NJ and even parts of MA in my voice. I swear CT has it's own accent...KB can vouch for this. But whenever I travel it's always the northeastern guinea thing to other people. Whatever, I've milked girls a few times because of it.

Wanna hear an annoying voice? Talk to people from Delaware, eastern parts of Penn and Maryland. Holy fuck kill me. Ya'll is worse than true hicks.

Calveless, sometimes I want to crack girls in the face who talk with that Miami accent.

I was Born at St. Joseph's downtown.

There's an annoying accent that seems to reach across much of the mid-south, that only affects upper-middle-class blonde women. They sound like bad ventriloquists, like they're trying to talk without moving their lips.

i cant stand the boston accent,,almost as worse as that actor who plays in the show from the mid 90's,,what was it called,,"the nanny" i think her name was fran dresher..or something of the sorts

As far as NY, I have family in Brooklyn and Mt. Kisco(does that even COUNT as NY?!?!?!). When we have our family reunion every year, we mostly stay in Manhattan. It's easier on everyone.

I think I sing well, just low. I think others think I sing not so well, but all that matters is what I think...haha!

My sister is a trained Opera Soprano. Man that girl CAN sing!

i sound a little nasally due to past problems with sinuses and adenoids. I from the chicagoland area but talk like what u see on regular movies. no accent.

Fran Drescher has a Long Guyland accent. I think it comes from the brain damage that results from inhaling too much hairspray.

I have a slight Southern accent as I am from Texas/Oklahoma. I say y'all and say gravy like "grahavy" or "graaavy". It's hard to say how something sounds by typing it.

Hers is a Queens accent. (similar to Brooklyn)

Southern Nassau county (western LI) is quite similar as well.

Long Island varies - the farther east you go the less offensive the accent.

Go beyong the Shinecock canal to an area that many refer to as Peconic County that accent doesn't exist at all.

pfft...get your facts straight before you criticize my city.

that's what an annoying queens jewish girl sounds like.

queens is very different than long island.
north jersey has its completely own accent. So does manhattan...

staten island has the worst accent IMHO
