Whats the World Record Deadlift?

sk* said:

What are you talking about???

The lift is a lift, all people are allowed to use the shirt. Noone has the advantage over the others, so it is fine.

I do agree that most of the reason the bench is so high up with the deadlift is cause of the shirts.

Let's not make this into another shirts are bad thread please.

Did I say that anybody had an advantage over anyone else? No. I just think that the lifts should be a true measure of a man's pure strength, and ONLY this, rather than his ability to use equipment to add over 100 lbs. The deadlift is, in this sense, the "purest" lift in a sense. I'm not trying to start a "shirts are bad" thread at all, just offering my opinion.

There are raw competitions, and there are equiped competitions. Its just two different things. If equipment is allowed by rules, and you are competing against other people, then why not use it? Me personally will never use equipment besides a belt and wrist wraps, because I love pure strength... but for others if a shirt will add 200 lbs, and they are allowed to use it.. then why not?

I agree. I guess I wish that raw lifting would be in the spotlight more often. I can't remember seeing any raw benching records posted here, yet I see every 15 lb PR in the shirted bench posted multiple times.

There was a raw bench competition today in NY, there was a thread posted.

If you like the raw lifts, why don't you be the one to make the threads?

Are you planning on breaking it Beast? :D

That would be fucking nice! Maybe if I was that strong Id compete haha. Its much more accessible to me then the bench or squat records haha. ThanX bro!!

Hasn't the max deadlift been stagnant for 10 years or maybe more? I remember reading about this huge beast of a man - looked like a lumberjack with a huge beard - deadlifting over 900 a long time ago. I can't remember his name.

Gary Heisey had the record for a while I think. Now Bolton and Frank are right there.

I was thinking of Doyle Kenady - first man to deadlift 900 pounds. He pulled 903lbs in '86. He died in 1999.
