Whats everyone bench ?

SMALLSUCKS702

for those of us that like to max bench to see where we are at how much can everyone do ? 1 rep 3 reps or however you do it....also list height weight and BF...
I guess i will start today i did 265x1 and that was a personal best , i know thats not shit for alot of you but for me thats an improvement of 25 lbs in about 3 months...Thanks to 702DASWOOLL1 for the help so far...
Im 6 ft 205lbs and about 13-14 % BF....

My best bench I ever had was for 315. My bodyweight at that time was 165 pounds, and I am 5'6 tall. The problem I have with maxing out is I always tweak a shoulder or pec despite a good warm up and stretch. I think the combination of submission grappling and heavy maxing is too much for my meager joints. :(

So I have now evolved to doing alot more weighted dips and incline benches instead. In fact, when I hired Dorian Yates for a one time personal training session in 2005, he said he never did alot of flat benching for chest in his prime. He recommends against it for bodybuilding purposes citing too great an injury risk vs the chest building reward.

But yea I must admit the 2 most fun lifts for me are 1 rep (power lifting style) Flat Bench Pressing and the Dead lift. Sheer intensity & fury!! :)

Great work with your personal best! Before you know it you'll be over the 300 barrier. :D

455 x 5

One rep max benches scare the shit out of me, I'm too worried of injury. I'm guessing I could hit a 495 for one or two. Doubt I'll try anytime soon...

510!!!! That's INSANE bro!!!!!!!!!!! WOW.

:chomp:

Do you do alot of extra work to protect your rotator cuffs and other stabilizers?

I cannot even fathom 510 coz I know how heavy dead lifting 450+ feels to me. I can't even imagine that mammoth amount being lowered to my chest!!!!!

You sir are a beast!!!!

I'm in your boat pretty much. I'm 6'2", 215 ish and did 275 nice and clean, but just missed at 300. This was this summer. I've never been good at bench or squat, so I think I'll be pretty glad to get 300+ on the bench.

Damn, that's a pretty good bench! Powerbuilder, I'm impressed with yours as well! I always like seeing tall guys be able to bench, gives me hope!

On the wrist thing, I've got these harbinger brand gloves my dad was cool enough to get me for Christmas when I was 15 or so. They are old, but still work great, they have a long wrap that is attatched to the glove and velcroes around the wrist. They work great, very handy.

These days I don't bench to maximum much. Currently doing 250 x 10 for 3 sets and am thinking my best single lift would be around 325.

When I was younger I was always going to a single max. It was all part of the fun of going to the gym. We had some local contests back then and my best lift in contest was was 202KGS (445lbs) as this was when I was living in Australia. I had done 450 in training but this was a long time ago now.

425 is my best
455 close, but couldn't lock it all the wat out
225x46 My most reps with this weight

Why is it the BENCH is always used as a measurement for test of strength ( I've done 900 lbs x 22 reps x 10 sets by the way) Why not parallel legal squats? Or true Deads.... that is strength to me.... a good, reasonable bench is fine... but the KING and Queen of all exercises should be the measurement...maybe Ill start a new thread.

265 for 3 reps. Power builder holy shit! Karma for that mofo.

The bench is a good gauge of upper body strength. The squat a good gauge of lower body strength, and the DEADLIFT the true test of total body strength.
The bench is glamorized because it's what most non - competitors can relate to. Of the 3 "big" lifts it's the one that causes the least amount of exhaustion and general misery.

No, but have had a couple physicals. Blood pressure, urine, heart rate, etc. Most recent one was while on cycle and everything was good. Never had gyno or ne thing just sore nips for a week one time 6 months after a cycle( fuckin deca) went away by itself though. And the typical backne

Blood work is probably a good idea though. How do I go about getting somethin like that done? Arent they gonna know Ive been using by the results and deny ne treatment?

did 225x10 for 3 sets today but that was my first time doing flat barbell in probably 9 months...im 6'6 240 and it destroys my shoulder to bench flat heavy...yet ive done 225x23 decline and can do 125 db's incline for sets of 10...my flat bench is just shit and ive come to accept it as such

no, not at all. most docs could care less--might get a lecture from some, but then they go on to help get things right. your best best is to go to a reproductive endocrinologist, but a reg doc can run the proper blood work and see if you need to see a specialist.

there are mail order services, but you need a real doc looking at all the numbers to make sure all is right.

Right on bro. Well looks like I'm goin to have to go embrass myself then. Last few times I got my blood drawn I passed out, doc said it was just nerves. He asked if I was afraid of needles, I answered yes. he said that was most likely the problem. Well I over came that fear haha. Havent got blood drawn since though.

285 X 2

but shit, since we are on the internet, I am entitled to add at least 100lbs...

so... 385 X 2

my best in the last few years was 455X6

Jesus there are a few big benches on here. Powerbuilder that's amazing and all those 400lb plus benches are crazy awesome as well. Me: Height - 5ft 11'. Weight - Hovers around 250 lbs. BF - 19% (eek). Bench 315 * 4reps. Prob not great proportionate to weight but so far totally natural.

Personal best is 315x15 reps. Just missed 455 at that workout. I don't try max benches often as is represented by the rep range used for 315. After that set, I thought I had a legit shot at 4 wheels and a quarter. I was pretty tired after the set w/315 so I missed the lift. Maybe if I was fresh.

I'm concentrating on the upper chest way more these days. It's more the look that I'm after than the poundages.

I dont understand how you gained 15 lbs by your fifth cycle and your bench barely rose.

good point--imho the gear is reaking havoc on his natty test--my thought is when he comes off he crashes big time and he is just not recovering.

both numbers should be higher than they are naturally--

that's why i suggested he see a doc. i just hope the guy is not shut down hard.

Last time I tried which I can't even remember because it has been so long I benched 315 once.

I try not to lift to heavy because I try to get atleast 8-12 reps at 3 sets on most lifts.

IMHO, if you can bench 300+ lbs. you are very strong, major accomplishment.

400+ lbs....you are a fucking animal! In an Elite class. HUGE accomplishment.

500 and up...you are a mutant gorilla or an alien, a world class Power-house.

Guess I cant exaggerate cuz my training partner started the thread (what were u thinking bro.lol)

Me last week. 360X3 at the end of my workout.
1 rep max is about 400-410. Not a pound more or less.

22yrs old 5'10 199lbs
max 365 for 2 reps
315 every chest workout for about 5 reps
135lbs dumbells max for incline chest about 3 n a half times

this summer 5'10'', weighed 225 at the time, 405lbs x 1. on cycle. but i have done double my weight when i was 180lbs, i did 360lbs x 1. BUT 405lbs LOOKS MORE IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!!! :)

the best i've done is 315 x 12 at a bodyweight of close to 210 @ 5'8" I havent tried a 1 rep max in a very long time.

Well today was a chest/back day for me. I did a warm up set with 135 for 12 reps then 185 for ten reps then 205 for ten reps then 225 for ten reps and 245 for 6 reps a little bit of help on the sixth rep though so 5 good reps on the 245. Pretty fucking good considering that two months ago i could barley push 245 for one rep. So i dont know exactly what my max would be right now. i will try in a few weeks and see.

skullcrushin22 said:

bloat, I said during cycle. When I came off I was about 207 but leaner than when I was 205

On cycle now:

315 is up to 13 reps (normally only 7 when off cycle)
dont like testing 1RM but I did yesterday and did a 470 with no help.

for those who do not like trying to find there 1RM there is an equation that is right 98% of the time. it works for most upper body lifts.

(5RM weight X 1.1307) + 0.6998 = 1RM for upper body

I'm 17, 5'9'' or 5'10'', weighed today at 171 pounds, max two weeks ago was 250 pounds one time. This is all natural. I go up about 50 pounds every four months when I work out. Damn, I need some steroids.

Right now about 80-100 for a few reps. I tore the fuck outta my pec about 7 months ago and rehabing it is taking forever and I get pain from it a lot with light lifts and i'm too worried about it tearing out of my arm again and having to have surgery to reattatch it to the bone again.

My all time best was a little over a year ago I did 42reps with 225 :qt: But as some of you know I fell out of the game for a while, I just did chest on tues and sad to say 6 reps with 315 felt HEAVY :worried: But I'm back in action so give me a couple of months and I'll be back :Chef:

damn my bench is almost identical to yours...the best i ever did was 365 for 4...my bench changes alot every week i dont know why....some times i can throw up 315 for 10 and some days only for like 6-7

Yeah, i'm 6'2 and i just started going extra wide with my index fingers like an inch outside the rings, sure does help out a lot. 225x10

About a year ago when I was in Iraq:
265Lbs-1x.....5'7" at 170.
I think I'm at 225 right now after a back injury and physical therapy.

at the end of my workout, 295 x 2 about 3 months ago, haven't gone real heavy in a while due to a shoulder/neck injury. in my prime, max was about 360-375, but that was 15 - 18 years ago, and i left the gym for a while. now i'm back to stay, won't take long, and i'll break that 400 + barrier :D

i just made a big jump in benches--
went from the one on the left to the one on th right--who is better than i am!!

Easier and more accurate way is to extrapololate the slope out from your 5 rm and 10 rm, reps versus weight are a linear function in most every case.

I have a bird-like chest but I can probably squat ATF most of the posters in this thread's bench weight plus thier body weight.

Except those guys doing 400+

when i juiced a while back i could tell you EXACTLY what i bench...Funny thing is now i never to flat bench or incline..I do lots of dumbbells, plate loaded machines, cable cross overs, push ups and dips..I prolly should but i work so much on hitting every part of the chest.....I do the 100lb flat dumbell press's which for my size i think is good... :) 5'7 163lbs..Not bad

Not to be a downer or anything, but just as squats don't count unless they break parallel, you can't go wider than index finger on the ring in the bench press. There's no consideration for arm length. If it helps, the best bencher in the world right now is 6'3". He also weighs almost 350...

It's the rules, what can I say? :)

My bench is up to

Flat Bench = 255 for 5 Reps

that shit shouldnt even count....that bench shirt or watever the hell they are wearing is cheating!! i can see wearing elbow wraps for your joints but that bench press shirt is just ridiculous

before my shoulder injury I was at RM of 300

I did 3x6 with 205 tonight, dropping to 3x10 of 135... after each 205lb set...
my shoulder just isn't anything anymore... hope this surgery fixes it meh.
