Papillon 1973 with Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman, nothing on the book but still an awesome movie, like to go visit and see for myself the dilapidated penal colonies in French Guiana.

The Ghost and the Darkness - great movie based on a true story, went through Tsavo East, Tsavo West and Amboseli on safari in 98', recommend it as a memorable holiday for anyone that gets the opportunity.
